This seasonal restaurant has the most exquisite setting on the banks of Lake Pichola. Open air dining under a swooning star filled sky, with dignified ceremonial accompanying the stunning modern Indian cuisine makes this candle lit space a fantastic place for a proposal. Only open in the cool months between October and March, it’s worth a trip to India just to eat here.

Maya Beach, Placencia, Belize

This beach front eatery offers a modern Caribbean style without feeling the slightest bit touristy. And indeed, it’s a favorite with the local population. Crisp white linens, fabulous food, international with a Belizean twist. Delightfully friendly wait staff, tempting rum cocktails and just a step or two from the jungle gardens, the blue Caribbean Sea, the pool – or have dinner served privately outside your cool and airy room at the Maya Beach Hotel. What we like about this place is its un-pretentiousness and approachability. You won’t feel as if you are in some kind of sideshow, unlike some more self-conscious – and expensive – places.

Cascades, Viceroy Bali, Ubud, Indonesia

This boutique villa resort with breathtaking views has one of the loveliest restaurants in the world. Views over the beautiful tropical Lembah Valley. An eclectic mix of modern and traditional Balinese furnishings, and a corner table surrounded by candles and strewn with rose petals make this a must visit love hideaway. Attentive service by traditionally costumed wait staff adds to the ambiance. The food is outstanding French and Asian fusion, and the wine list is fabulous too.

Mad 64 Rooftop Lounge, Roosevelt Hotel, New York

It’s almost impossible to choose the best romantic dining spot in New York. There are so many wonderful restaurants in this most romantic of cities. This is a special favorite, because of its open-air location on the roof of the hotel, its nighttime views, and the intimate yet casual sofa seating. Food is light, modern, and the cocktails are traditional and strong.

Le Jules Verne, Eiffel Tower, Paris

Yes, it’s corny, yes it’s touristy, but it’s a perfect setting for a romantic evening – maybe even for popping that all important question. Located on the third floor of that iconic symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower, make sure that you book well in advance, as it’s an extremely popular location both for tourists and Parisians. The food is fresh, modern French, but it’s the views, the views above all else, of this city made for lovers, that will make a dinner at Le Jules Verne a heart-stopping experience.
