We don’t want to be Khloe Kardashian right now.
The youngest Kardashian sister has been slapped with a $150,000 lawsuit, for sharing an unlicensed photograph on her Instagram page. The fact that it’s a picture of herself makes no difference…
Khloe is being sued by picture agency XPosure Photos, for sharing the picture of herself without a) permission and b) crediting it properly. She even removed the copyright mark from the picture, which is the extra offending cherry on top.
Khloe isn’t going down alone though – she is dragging several members of her social media team along with her for presumably playing a part in the posting of the picture.
“Plaintiff never licensed the Photograph to defendants,” the Xposure Photos complaint stated in an official document.
“Nevertheless, defendants have used, and continue to use, the Photograph without authorization or permission from plaintiff to do so. Specifically, Kardashian copied the Photograph and distributed it on Instagram on September 14, 2016.
“The copy of the Photograph that Kardashian distributed on Instagram had been altered to remove the CMI [copyright management information] showing plaintiff as the copyright owner of the image.”
Goodness! Please excuse us while we brush up on our copyright knowledge and revisit everything we ever learned in college…
