It’s 2017, and the newest fashion trends are coming hot off the runways. 70s fabrics and styles are in vogue this year, with a few things from the 80s coming back into style as well. The designers don’t consider the everyday woman when setting the trends, but the everyday woman can look at the styles on the runways and adapt the concept to the normal woman’s lifestyle.

So, here are some of the hot trends for women in 2017:

Shirt-dresses

The shirtwaist dress is a timeless classic; modern designers have changed the concept from a shirt-style top attached to a skirt to basically just a long shirt with adaptations – asymmetrical hemlines, button-down or mandarin collars, side slits, and other changes. The dress can be suitable for work or for a night on the town.

Culottes

This fashion trend is another 70s style. One can wear culottes to school and out in the evening in the 70s, but the culottes of today are suitable to wear everywhere. Lengths vary from below the knee to between the upper ankle and lower calf, and these culottes feature wide legs, to give more of a trousers effect.

A-lines

The classic A-line dress is updated with asymmetrical hemlines, ruffles, or bold floral prints. Paired with a masculine blazer, or straight-legged jeans, one can pull off this versatile style to work, out for a casual evening, or a floor-length dress worn to a formal occasion. You can make a bold statement with this dress, with zigzag prints or 70s-style prints. A dress for all seasons indeed.

Denim Jackets

Wear this jacket whenever you want to be casual. You can wear the versatile jacket in moderate temperatures, as a layer when it gets cold, as a shirt, either under a heavier coat or just by itself. Traditionally made from blue denim, you can rock your style with a khaki-colored one. Or perhaps with one in a bolder color.

Long Vests

Worn as an alternative to a coat or cape, these vests are adaptable to the temperature. In the warmer weather, you can be wear them without long-sleeved dresses or blouses. In the cooler weather, you can layer them with long-sleeved shirts or sweaters, and when it’s really cold, they layer under a trench coat or a cape, to keep you both warm and stylish.

Kimono-style Trench Coats

This coat is an amalgam of a bathrobe, kimono, and a coat. Hitting mid-calf in length and worn with a belt or an obi-style sash, these coats are both fashionable and functional. They are suitable for wear everywhere, including formal events, and they keep you warm while you’re on the go.

These six trends are the must-haves for women in 2017. 70s fabrics, such as suede, and Bohemian-style prints, are much in demand this season, and pair well with some of these trends. Monochromatic styles are also big this season, with single-toned jumpsuits leading the way. However you choose to mix and match these styles, you’ll be in the forefront of fashion this season.
