What do famous babies and busses have in common? Akin to busses, you seem to wait weeks for an A-list birth, and then two come along at once!

Although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry beat Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer to their pregnancy announcement last year (only by a few days), the comedian beat the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by giving birth to her baby first.

(Not that it’s a competition – although Amy Schumer has joked that she will always be competing with the royals – but we can all have a bit of fun right?

While we were awaiting the birth of the royal baby, across the pond, Amy Schumer had already given birth to her bouncing baby boy, who was reportedly born on Sunday, May 5. (Baby Sussex was born in the early hours of Monday morning.)

And although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry proudly showed off their new bundle of joy during an official photocall this morning (Wednesday 08 May) they kept his name to themselves. Perhaps they still haven’t made their minds up yet?

Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer weren’t quite as shy about revealing their newborn’s name.  The comedian proudly announced her son’s name on her Instagram page, and it is Gene Attell Fischer!

We love the name!

And although nothing has been officially announced, it seems like his middle name might have been inspired by Amy Schumer’s friend and fellow comedian Dave Attell.

Congratulations to the proud new parents on their new arrival!
