The Grammy 2020 nominations have finally been announced – and not one, but two young artists have made history!

Billie Eilish and Lizzo have both made Grammy Awards history, by being nominated for the prestigious Grand Slam at the same time.

In other words, they both received nominations in the four biggest categories of the night: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.

This is the first time in history that two artists have been up for the Grand Slam at the same time. And getting the coveted Grand Slam is no easy feat either, as only ten other artists in Grammy Awards history have managed it!

Cyndi Lauper scored the Glam Slam back in 1985, Mariah Carey in 1991, and Amy Winehouse in 2008, to name just thee. The most recent artist was Sam Smith back in 2015.

Lizzo received eight nods in total, and is also up for Best Pop Solo Performance (Truth Hurts), Best R&B Performance (Exactly How I Feel featuring Gucci Mane), Best R&B Performance (Jerome) and Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Billie Eilish isn’t too far behind with a total of six nominations. As well as the big four, the 17-year-old is also up for Best Pop Solo Performance (Bad Guy) and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Plus, Billie Eilish is the youngest person in history to receive the Grand Slam – something which she “never in a million years” thought would happen…

“I could have bet you money that would never happen,” Billie Eilish said in an interview with ET.

“I still haven’t thought about it. I don’t think I will be on stage, you know? I think it’s so weird when people think they’re going to be huge.

“God, that’s so weird. I never in a million years would have thought this sh*t would happen.”

Well, it’s happening!
