Devastating news this morning, as it’s been revealed that Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce has died aged 20.

“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated,” read a statement from his family.

“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

The 20-year-old actor was known for his roles in Descendants and Jessie, as well as starring alongside Adam Sandler in the 2008 feature film, Grown Ups. According to reports, he was also due to appear in Grown Ups 2, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up and Ultimate Spider-Man.

It’s likely that we will see him appear in Descendants 3 alongside Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart, as filming finished about one year ago. It currently has a release date of August 3, although that could change given the circumstances.

As well as his talents on screen, Cameron Boyce has also been recognized for his philanthropic work, in particular for bringing attention to the Global Water Crisis by raising over $30,000 for the Thirst Project…

“As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work,” a spokesperson for the Disney Channel said in a statement.

“He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.

“We offer our deepest condolences to his family, castmates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”

RIP Cameron Boyce.
