Forget Instagram announcements – when you’re a world-famous supermodel, the only way to reveal a pregnancy is to do it on the pages of the fashion bible…

Yes, Emily Ratajkowski is expecting her first child with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard – and the gorgeous model made the announcement with a stunning photoshoot, video, and personal essay in Vogue’s latest issue.

Here is the  cover video, which close friend and director Lena Dunham (yes, the Lena Dunham) described as “the opposite of a People magazine baby announcement.”

“I dreamed of you for the first time the other night. You were swaddled in a blanket and floating,” the 29-year-old model and soon-to-be new mom narrates in the video.

“Your hair was dark brown before it curled and turned blond just like your father’s.

“We are waiting for you, wondering who you will be.

“There’s a quietness that comes with pregnancy, a humbling. I’m listening for you. I’m full of wonder.”

And speaking of wondering who the baby will be, Emily said that she doesn’t want to reveal the sex, adding that she and her husband will wait for their child to let them know the gender when the time is right…

“We won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then,” she wrote.

“Everyone laughs at this,” she continued.

“There is a truth to our line, though, one that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly.

“Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are?

“This is a wondrous and terrifying concept, one that renders us both helpless and humbled.”

So we assume that we can rule out any gender reveal parties…

Congratulations Emily and Sebastian!
