Idris Elba has revealed that he has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The 47-year-old actor told his social media followers that he currently has no symptoms, and only took the test after becoming aware that someone he had been in contact with had tested positive…

“This morning I tested positive for COVID-19,” Idris Elba wrote, alongside a video of him explaining his diagnosis in further detail.

“I feel OK, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus,” his caption continued.

“Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”

In the video, the actor can be heard urging his followers to think about social distancing to try and stop the spread of the virus…

“It sucks,” he says in the video.

“Look, this is serious. Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that could easily spread it.

“So now’s a real time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”

Although he didn’t specify the identity of the person he had come into contact with, it’s widely suspected that it could have been Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife.

Just a few days ago, Idris Elba attended a WE Day charity event in London, and posed for a picture with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who has since announced that she has tested positive for the virus.
