Another day, another celebrity marriage – and this time round, the honour goes to Nicki Minaj!

The 36-year-old rapper got married to her boyfriend of one year, 41-year-old Kenneth Petty. (They became Instagram official in December 2018, and she even changed her Instagram name to Mrs Petty back in August.)

Nicki Minaj shared a video featuring matching Mr and Mrs mugs, and black and white baseball caps with ‘Bride’ and ‘Groom’ written on them.

She captioned the video “Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19,” which is her new official name, and what we assume is their official wedding date.

Although the post was filled with congratulatory messages from friends and fans alike, fans of the rapper have shown concern over their relationship from the start.

Not only is Petty a registered sex offender in New York (he was reportedly convicted of attempted rape back in 1995) but reports also claim that he spent four years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2006.

Naturally, Nicki Minaj has always defended and stuck by her boyfriend throughout their relationship…

“He was 15, she was 16… in a relationship. But go awf Internet. y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo,” she wrote on Instagram in December, following the negative comments about his criminal past.

Back in August, Nicki Minaj told the world on her Queen radio show that she had filed for a marriage licence, so the marriage would take place in “about 80 days”.

“From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days,” she said on her show on August 12.

“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later.”

We imagine that Nicki Minaj’s big wedding will be quite a spectacular affair – after all, she doesn’t do things by halves!

Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Petty!
