It’s the end of an era!

Chrissy Teigen – who is arguably the unofficial queen of Twitter, or at the very least, the queen of Twitter clapbacks – has officially shut down her Twitter account. And we genuinely don’t know if the platform will ever be the same again!

The 35-year-old model turned cookbook author made the announcement to her 13.7 million Twitter followers yesterday, thanking her fans for all the good times, but ultimately blaming the bad times for her decision to call it quits…

“Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world,” her goodbye message began.

“I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends.

“But it’s time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something.”

She continued to reference the trolling she has faced over the years – as well as the online bullying that occurs so frequently on the platform – and added that it had a poor impact on her mental health.

“For years I have taken so many small, 2-follower count punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised,” she added.

“My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap-back girl but I’m just not.

“My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!”

We’ll miss you Chrissy Teigen. And we hope that maybe, just maybe, Twitter can be a better place which you’ll be happy to return to!
