The theme for next year’s Met Gala has officially been announced – and we think it’s one of the greatest themes of all time!

The theme for the 2019 Met Gala is, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, reportedly inspired by the 1964 Susan Sontag “Notes on Camp” essay which defines camp as, “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.”

Lady Gaga and former One Direction hunk Harry Styles will officially host the Met Gala, which this year is being sponsored entirely by Gucci.

“We are going through an extreme camp moment, and it felt very relevant to the cultural conversation to look at what is often dismissed as empty frivolity but can be actually a very sophisticated and powerful political tool, especially for marginalized cultures,” Andrew Bolton, the curator of the Costume Institute told The Times.

“Whether it’s pop camp, queer camp, high camp or political camp — Trump is a very camp figure — I think it’s very timely.”

Gucci’s Alessandro Michele and tennis champ Serena Williams will also be co-chairing the gala, so we’re predicting some of the most exaggerated and over the top looks ever!

The sartorial possibilities are endless!

The 2019 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, while the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibition will run from May 9 to Sept 8.
