This year’s Super Bowl halftime show was just as spectacular as we had hoped it would be, as Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar (as well as 50 Cent, who made a surprise but very welcome appearance) all took to the stage!

However, it was the 51-year-old Good Morning Gorgeous singer who really stole the show for us, singing hits such as A Family Affair and No More Drama while wearing a glittering disco-ball-reminiscent Peter Dundas look that certainly outshone every other performer.

Mary J. Blige’s show-stopping look consisted of a snow leopard patterned sequin long-sleeved crop top and matching hotpants, which she teamed with dramatic over the knee boots, a cowboy hat (for part of the performance), and fingerless gloves, all of which were in the same mirrored snow leopard pattern.

According to the designer himself, his vision for Mary J. Blige’s performance was inspired by French sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle and her sculptures of women covered in mirrors…

“I thought the mirrors worked really well with Mary because she pulls so much on your heartstrings with singing about things that you kind of identify with yourself,” Dundas reportedly told WWD about the look.

“She almost becomes a reflection of the audience as well.”

Mary J. Blige also commented on her one-of-a-kind, head-turning, practically blinding look too…

“Wow. That’s all I’m gonna say, wow,” she told Entertainment Tonight before the halftime show started, teasing the publication as well as the rest of the world.

Although we must admit, even with Mary’s warning, we were certainly taken by surprise! We were NOT expecting to see something THAT fabulous!

“I think you want to give them Mary on steroids, just, like, the most beautiful, glamorous, ghetto fabulous whatever! We’re gonna take it to a whole other level,” she added.
