Mel B has reportedly been rushed into hospital, following a mystery accident which resulted in two broken ribs and a severed hand.

The 43-year-old Spice Girl was taken into a New York hospital and underwent a three-hour operation to ensure she didn’t lose her right hand.

Her hospitalization has meant that she has had to cancel her upcoming New York book signing for her memoir, Brutally Honest, which she apologized to fans for.

“I’ve had to unfortunately cancel my book signing today in NY, I apologise to each and everyone one of you who bought tickets to meet me today,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of herself rocking a purple sling.

“I’m absolutely gutted but I can assure you it WILL happen at a later date, I promise, but for now my right arm/hand is all stitched up and I’m trying to keep still to heal my broken ribs.

“ohhh the pain, but I’m in super safe hands with the care of everyone here at the hospital!!!!! thank you all for understanding, I love you all #accidentshappen #needtimetoheal #hospital”

Her Spice Girls bandmates (minus Victoria Beckham) Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Melanie Chisholm came to visit her in hospital, which she also shared with fans via Instagram post. Aww!

The cause of what led to her injuries is currently unknown – although Entertainment Tonight is reporting that she fell down a narrow staircase at a friend’s house – we’re hoping that she will tell her fans the full story once she is on the mend.
