Tributes have poured in for Luke Perry, who died aged just 52 after suffering a stroke.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actor – who has most recently been playing the role of Fred Andrews in Riverdale – suffered a stroke on February 29. He died on Monday, March 04, surrounded by his family.

According to his publicist Arnold Robinson, Luke Perry’s children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, and siblings Tom Perry and Amy Coder, were all with him when he passed away.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,” Arnold Robinson added.

Luke Perry was shooting scenes for Riverdale before being taken to hospital last month. The CW show has stopped production following this tragic news…

“Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all,” read a statement from WBTV and the CW network.

“A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness.

“Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

Famous friends and co-stars have understandably poured their hearts out on social media…

“My heart is broken. I will miss you so much Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family #LukePerry,” Molly Ringwald, who stars as Luke Perry’s ex-wife in Riverdale, wrote on Twitter.

Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram to pay her respects to the actor too…

“My entire high school experience was shaped by Brenda and Dylan. Now I have to hold my dear friend @theshando hand, while she mourns the loss of #lukeperry,” she wrote, in reference to his role on Beverly Hills, 90210.

“This is not how it’s supposed to happen. I hope his family knows many lives he touched. “I chose. I chose you. I want you. I’ve always wanted you” – my favorite quote”

His former co-star Ian Ziering shared a picture of himself with Luke Perry, with a message saying he deserved a “seat close to God”…

“Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years,” he began.

“May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here for those you leave behind.

“God please give him a seat close to you, he deserves it.”

Our thoughts are with Luke Perry’s loved ones.

RIP.
