Less than a month after giving birth Kulture Kiari, her first child with rapper husband Offset, Cardi B will take to the stage to open the MTV VMAs!

If anyone can do it, Cardi can! She was performing her heart out well into her pregnancy, after all, so we are confident that she will be up to it.

We were a bit surprised to hear that she had agreed to open the show so soon though, as she recently pulled out of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour because she didn’t feel physically ready, and didn’t want to be apart from her baby girl.

“I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing,” she said at the time.

“Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”

Then again, there’s a world of difference between one night and a whole tour…

We also understand why Cardi B wants to be at the VMAs so desperately, as she has received more nominations than any other artist this year. Yep, even more than Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Drake!

Cardi has bagged herself a whopping 10 nods, including nominations for the coveted Best Video and Best New Artist gongs.

How many awards do you think she will walk away with?

Jennifer Lopez (who will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award), Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Travis Scott are also among the performers for this year’s show.

The MTV VMAs will be held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20th. We can’t wait!
