Understatement of the century, but there’s been a lot of drama for Meghan Markle this week.
However, it looks like things are finally coming together for the bride-to-be, as we have solved the last piece of the puzzle. Apart from the identity of her dress designer, of course…
We were unsure who would walk Meghan down the aisle at tomorrow’s Royal Wedding after her father could no longer make it due to health reasons.
The most obvious signs pointed to Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, however, the honor has actually gone to her future father in law, Prince Charles.
“Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day,” read an official statement from Kensington Palace.
“The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to the Royal Family in this way.”
Reports state that it was actually Prince Harry who suggested his father do the honors due to his experience in front of large crowds. He hoped that he would put Meghan at ease on the big day.
“I’m told that it was Harry who suggested asking his father if he would step into the breach,” royal journalist Larcombe told Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“Doria and Meghan discussed it but she just didn’t feel she could go through with it. Meghan felt that it would be too much to expect her mother to perform such an important role when more than one billion people are expected to be watching.
“Just his presence by her side will calm Meghan and make the terrifying prospect of a royal wedding far less frightening. She will be able to let Charles take the lead and calmly make sure nothing goes wrong.”
What do you guys think? Is Prince Charles the right person to do the honors, or should Meghan’s mother have been chosen instead?
