Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t here for the negative comments surrounding her appearance on the highly-anticipated Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.

Can you believe that SJP and her co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have received backlash for daring to look older on the show? Because we can’t!

Speaking to Vogue as part of her December cover interview, the 56-year-old award-winning actress went into detail about the misogynistic comments she has received for her appearance – most notably her gray hair that she (or the wardrobe/hair and make-up team) hasn’t tried to cover up while filming.

“There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man,” SJP said in the interview.

“‘Gray hair gray hair gray hair. Does she have gray hair?’ I’m sitting with Andy Cohen, and he has a full head of gray hair, and he’s exquisite,” she continued, before questioning, “Why is it okay for him?”

The Carrie Bradshaw actress went on to say that social media is “so judgmental” these days, probably more than it has ever been…

“‘She has too many wrinkles, she doesn’t have enough wrinkles,'” she continued, in reference to people’s attitude on social media.

“It almost feels as if people don’t want us to be perfectly okay with where we are as if they almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better.

“I know what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?”

We’re so glad she has addressed this issue. And we’re even more glad to hear that the ladies’ characters will be ageing gracefully on the show, which is apparently something the creators were keen to represent.

Writer, director and producer Michael Patrick King commented that we don’t see many women in their fifties represented on the small screen, which is why he was very keen to continue Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda’s stories…

“When we announced And Just Like That…, there were a lot of positive reactions, but one bitchy response online was people sharing pictures of the Golden Girls. And I was like, ‘Wow, so it’s either you’re 35, or you’re retired and living in Florida,’ There’s a missing chapter here,” King said.
