We know that Stefano Gabbana loves a bit of controversy on social media.

The Dolce and Gabbana designer has already landed himself in hot water by insulting the likes of Miley Cyrus, her brother, and Kate Moss… but we think his latest remark about Selena Gomez might have topped them all.

So how did this all come about?

Stefano Gabbana reportedly commented on an Instagram post from The Catwalk Italia, which showed Selena Gomez wearing five different red dresses, and invited their followers to choose a favorite.

But instead of choosing a favorite as instructed, the designer replied in Italian with the comment, “È proprio brutta!” which roughly translates to “she’s really ugly!”

Ouch! And he didn’t end it there, as he also responded to another user’s comment which said, “she looks like a Pomeranian dog,” by replying, “hahahahahaha is true hahahaha.”

Cue the army of Selena Gomez fans coming to her rescue with some very valid (if we do say so ourselves) points…

@SeIenaskru
“Considering how many times Selena Gomez has worn Dolce & Gabbana’s designs on some of the biggest red carpet events in the world you would think that the co-founder of #DolceAndGabbana Stefano Gabbana, would have the decency to appreciate the free promotion she gave to his brand.”

@windinhersaiIs
“so, you can not like how someone looks, but calling that person ugly on social media without any actual reason is low, especially when you’re a grown ass man
stefano gabbana fell so low and selena is still one of the prettiest and most influential women in the industry”

@rickrvsso
“I’m Italian and I I apologize for what Stefano Gabbana said, he is over!
D&G is beautiful but he is literally ugly, he is disgusting!
Selena Gomez is one of the most beautiful woman in the world. Scienze and people say that, it’s not my opinion!
Selena is Prada, you’re Nada!”

@dressvinyl
“dear Stefano Gabbana, it’s because of people like you that young girls around the globe have body image issues. that comment was beyond despicable and you REALLY lost all the respect the fashion world had for you constantly acting so immaturely. no class whatsoever”

@MikeAdamOnAir
“Imagine calling this woman ugly ???????? Someone get Stefano Gabbana off social media.”

We definitely agree with the comments questioning his motives, especially considering how many times Selena has worn – and rocked – Dolce and Gabbana on the red carpet.

Let’s hope someone responds with an official statement soon because this is getting out of hand.

Ps: we love you, Selena!
