Tom Hanks has revealed that he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have tested positive for Coronavirus.

The legendary actor shared the news with his friends and fans via social media

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches,” the 63-year-old Toy Story actor wrote on Instagram.

“Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

He continued to say that he and his family will be quarantined as per the government requirements, and will be taking things one day at a time…

“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed,” he continued.

“We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

“We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!”

Although nothing has been confirmed, it’s being suspected that the virus may have been passed on via a Warner Brothers crew member working on the set of Tom Hanks’ new project. The actor has been in Australia working on Baz Luhrmann’s as yet untitled Elvis Presley-inspired movie, which also stars Vanessa Hudgens’ ex, Austin Butler.

“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus), read a statement from the company.

“We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.

“The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.”

Chet Hanks, Tom and Rita’s son, also took to social media to react to the news, reassuring his followers that his parents are “not worried” about catching it, and are “not even that sick”…

“What’s up everyone?” his Instagram video began.

“Yeah, it’s true. My parents got coronavirus. Crazy. They’re both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there, but I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine, they’re not even that sick.

“They’re not worried about it, they’re not trippin’ but they’re going through the necessary health precautions obviously. But I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about.

“I appreciate everyone’s concern and the well-wishes, but I think it’s all going to be alright. But I appreciate it, and just, everybody stay safe out there. Much love.”

As expected, Tom Hanks has received enormous support from his A-list friends and fans via social media…

“NOT TOM,” Skai Jackson tweeted.

“It’s like it picked the celebrity we cared the most about to make a point,” Whitney Cummings wrote.

“Wishing you both a speedy recovery, and sending lots of love,” Ellen DeGeneres wrote on Twitter.

“Wishing two of the kindest, coolest, most talented people in the world @tomhanks & @ritawilson a swift recovery #Coronavirus,” Mia Farrow added.

Get well soon, Tom and Rita!
