Are bangs in style? Well, yes, bangs are still huge in 2020. And the beauty of it is that they can be used on all types of hair and facial shape. Kinky, curly, wavy or straight, you can rock this trendy haircut. The good thing with bangs is how versatile they are. You can have various variations to suit the shape of your face. To name just a few, you have options like the micro, side, fringe and curtain bangs to mention just but a few.

Whatever the occasion, whether you are looking for a fresh start after a bad break up or its a thing of fresh year – fresh things, Love is All Colors is here to convince you why you should get bangs in 2020 as we answer your question “Are bangs fashionable 2020″? Scroll on…

Fringes in style 2020

A lot of women admire bangs on others. But they can’t bring themselves to taking that bold step towards cutting their hair. They feel like its too much of a commitment to take. So even after enough convincing that they are ready, or after enough convincing that the answer to “Are fringes still in style” is a “Yes”, they still listen to that little voice in their heads that tells them “No”.

So let’s try and convince you to ignore that resounding “No” and try something new on your head this new year. Let’s have a look at some trendy bang styles…

How to style bangs with curly hair

If you are worried about how to style bangs with curly hair, then you need not be. The thing is, according to most stylists, women with curlier hair are embracing bangs this year more than ever before.

For curl patterns, experienced stylists usually cut random pieces around the face as opposed to the usual strait across bang. This creates a better movement for the curls. Tessa Thompson is one actress who when she decides to do a curly bang it is super sexy. In her beauty campaign with Urban Decay rapper Lizzo is also seen rocking wispy curly bangs.

Hairstyles with thick bangs

Hairstyles with thick bangs have also become trendy. The way to style them us with some texture. If you have curly hair and are planning on rocking bangs then you need to consider heavy bangs. If you want to add instant dimension and movement, thick bangs can be styled into brow-grazing bangs like for Yara Shahidi.

Kerry Washington is another celebrity who loves rocking curly bangs with bounce and healthy volume.

Heavy, straight pieces that graze the brows are very en vogue. Much as bangs that are longer, straighter and thicker require more attention and maintenance, if done properly, they give one a sophisticated look. So if you want to pull the look well, ask your hairstylist to cut the bangs in tiny different lengths. This way you will be able to pull some to the side of your face and others in the middle, giving you relaxed elegance without having the bags weighing heavy on the forehead.

If you have a square shape with a sharp jawline, go for thick bangs that kind of down the cheeks at an angle.

The other type of haircut that pairs well with thick bangs is the shaggy haircut. If you want to rock the look make sure the layers are cut in one uniform length for bouncier wash-and-go curls.

Soft curtain bangs

Some people don’t like fringes in their eyes or on their foreheads. But seeing as the trendy fringes in style 2020 are the longer ones, they still want the look of longer bangs. For such people, stylists usually recommend curtain bangs. Its the cool girl haircut of the year.

So if you are still asking – are bangs in style – and you are a bit skeptical about drastically chopping your front hair off, then this is the ultimate look for you. Plus, the curtain bangs are perfect for ladies with longer foreheads. At the same time, they are the easiest style of bangs to maintain. For instance, what singer Camila Cabello does to her bangs is just tuck them behind her ears to achieve the curtain effect.

The good thing is that once you are over the bang craze, you can easily grow out the fringe.

How to style bangs to the side

Well, this is easy and it is a style that is huge in 202o. This style was very popular between 2000-2005 and it is so back and still chic. So if you have set your eyes on side-swept bangs and you wondering how to style bangs to the side, you need not worry.

It is simple. You can achieve this style by simply side parting your hair a little further than you usually and let it cascade on one side of the forehead. It is well suited for people with oval, heart-shaped and long face shapes. For one to pull off the look, those with heart-shaped faces should make the bangs wispier whereas those with long faces should do the bangs heavier.

How to style long bangs

Much as short bangs will be popular in 2020, if you have reservations about the baby bangs, get a feel of this haircut by getting long bangs before diving in. Long fringes will still be popular in 2020. Longer bangs accentuate the cheekbones. So your bangs need to focus on your positive features. If you are a beginner in the bangs world, longer layers will be perfect for you to help you adjust to this new look and the moment you are used to the look, you can go shorter.

How to style bangs that are too short

These are also known as micro-bangs or baby bangs. They sit an inch or more higher above the forehead and they mostly roughly chopped. Now, much as they are the in thing these days, they are actually from years back… In fact, they go back to the 50s where celebrities like Bettie Page and Audrey Hepburn were brave enough to take the risky cut. Most of the cool girls usually go for this style.

The good thing about how to style bangs that are too short is that you don’t really have to worry about your hair length or texture. They complement every hair type and length. So for instance, if you are wondering about how to style bangs with wavy hair, then you should consider the micro bangs.

Maintaining the length is something you need to consider when going for the short bangs. So if you are planning to have it for longer, you will probably have to do more visits to your hairstylist or lear tutorials on how to cut it yourself.

Now if you to prove to you that they can be styled even on natural hair, Lupita Nyong’o has also been pulling off this look.

Weave styles with bangs

If you still in doubt that the answer to the question “Are bangs in style” is “Yes” and you are not comfortable taking the plunge, then there is an alternative for you. Try weave style with bangs. Clip-ins, wigs and weaves are the easiest way to go around the risk of cutting your hair only to hate it the following morning.

Any time is bangs time!

You don’t have to wait for a special occasion or break up to make the decision to get bangs. You can get these bangs at any time of the year. Nothing should ever stop you from trying out this trendy hairstyle, no matter the size or volume of your hair.

Are bangs in style? Have you seen the red carpet events? Even Lupita Nyon’go rocks her kinky hair in bangs. Everyone is rocking bangs.

Now before you decide to rock your bangs, do a little research about this haircut. The red carpet, as well as Instagram, offers people great inspiration to start one-off. So when visiting your stylist, all you need to do is google for bang styles that will flatter the frame of your face.

In today’s article, we have done the research work for you and gone the extra mile to bring you some celebrity bang hairstyles to inspire you and get you out of the hair rut. Don’t let people convince you that bangs are expensive to maintain.

Are fringes fashionable 2020? They are timeless because of how flattering and versatile they are. So read on this article and find out how to style different bang styles for different hair types. Then take the plunge this year. We promise you won’t regret the decision. If anything, you will be wondering why you didn’t do it sooner…

First Victoria’s Secret, and now Chanel…

Chanel has just made history by hiring its first-ever openly transgender model for its beauty campaigns. And the honor has gone to none other than Teddy Quinlivan!

The 25-year-old model wasted no time in discussing her ground-breaking new role on Instagram…

“I find I don’t cry anymore when things are sad, but isn’t it interesting when we shed tears in moments of triumph. This was one of those triumphant cry moments for me,” she wrote on Instagram.

“My whole life has been a fight. From being bullied at school consistently, kids threatening to kill me and going into graphic detail how they were going to do it, my own father beating me and calling me a f—t, to receiving industry blowback after speaking publicly about being sexually assaulted on the job… This was a victory that made all of that s–t worth it.”

She also told her followers that she had previously walked two Chanel shows before opening up about her “trans identity”, and feared that once she had come forward, her workload might never be the same again.

However, Chanel has not only accepted her trans identity, but the French fashion house has embraced and celebrated it…

“When I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again,” she added in her emotional social media post.

“But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community.”

We couldn’t be happier to see Chanel take this very big and very important step.

Let’s hope that more big fashion brands follow suit!

Gone are the days when black ladies were ridiculed for their natural hair styles; the days when it was either too difficult to style or it lacked length! Curly natural hair has become the new sexy It’s a trend that seems to be on the rise with every passing day among black women all over the world. With the harsh treatment some relaxers give, it is no surprise to see that a lot of ladies are going all natural.

Read on to find out which of the highlighted natural hair styles is best suited for you.

Natural hairstyles best suited for your hair type and length

During the course of this discussion, we will be exploring styles that can be used for hairs of different length for the “naturalists” in the house. While care and styling of black natural hairstyles can be a bit of a challenge, it is important that you find easy and convenient new natural hairstyles that will complement the stylish “you” and protect your all natural hair.

Here are some you can consider

The twist-outs

This is being rocked by celebrities like Solange Knowles, Tracee Ellis Ross among others, even on the red carpet! The style is suitable for both long and short hair, is easy to maintain, helps protect your edges and gives you long-lasting curls that are sure to turn heads your way. Of course, there are many variations to the twist-out style. Find one that works best for your hair and one that best suits the shape of your face.

Bantu knot updo (@ronesiabarrshair)

Originating from Southern Africa, the Bantu knots hairstyle celebrates African tradition in all its glory. While it is a great natural hairstyle to rock if you are big on culture, it also protects the hair and prevents breakage. You can give your Bantu knots a personal twist by parting it in different shapes. You can decide to unravel the knots and rock the full bouncy curls that are sure to spring out. Hey, go for whatever rocks your fancy!

Twisted pompadour and bun

What’s not to love about this hairstyle? It is protective, easy to create and suitable for all occasions. Rather than the simple bun you are used to, take things up a notch by parting a circular or rectangular section on the top of your head. Be flexible and part the hair in a way that best compliments your face. Twist the section parted to a side of your hair and feed it with the rest of your hair, turning it into a bun (or doughnut!)

Braided or Twisted Updos

natural hair

Who says you cannot be classy while rocking your natural hair? People often go for simple styles. However, you can explore the various possibilities that updos can offer your natural curly hair (whether it is short or long). You can also tie a scarf around your hair (as shown above) for a different look. With many variations like one-sided braid and double-sided braid, you can create a sleek updo and add little waves! When the twists or braids are taken out, they can give your hair beautiful bouncy curls. We love this one because it’s one of the best natural hairstyles for medium length hair.

Natural locs

This is one of the best, quick and easy natural hair styles among naturalists. There is a certain appeal that comes with this hairstyle that is perfect for different occasions. You can add a little color (if you desire) to give you a bolder look. This is the style that protects your hair from damage and makes you classy, which is a win-win for me.

Fro

You can never go wrong with the good ol’ fro. The cool thing about a fro is its simplicity and the versatility it gives your hair. It can be done when you start growing out your natural tresses and can be easily maintained. Also, you can curl your long tresses to give you fuller locks. Fros give your hair ample room to breathe.

Braided Faux hawk with extensions

Take your cornrow game to the next level by adding extensions. Unlike the average faux hawk style that demands an endless supply of pins and smoothing brush, the braided version lasts longer and can be styled for different occasions. The braids help to protect your edges while the extensions (which could be curly or straight) help transform the look from ordinary to extraordinary. You can add unique styles to your cornrows on the side for a much better finish.

Fro hawk

fro hawk

The fro hawk style is one that allows your hair to breathe without the constriction that buns or ponytail may give while at the same time ensuring that the hair gets out of your face. The Fro hawk can be styled in different ways and designs. Some may throw in side braids, use a parted design or use foam rollers to get curls at the middle, all in a bid to add more versatility. All the same, this style is a “YES” from me to get your style game on.

You can spend a whole day scrolling through the amazing all natural hairstyles photos on IG. But take the first step and start taking care of your natural hair. The African woman has very unique hair, and we love everything about our hair.

If you are thinking 80s makeup trends are dated, man are you wrong. We are excited to show you how to pull off some of our favorite ones. Check them out…

80s makeup trends back in style in 2019

The ’80s are over — but 80’s makeup trends are making a huge comeback! We’re going to dive into some of the hottest 80s style makeup that will help you revive the 80s in full force. Think Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and Whitney Houston. Turn on some 80s tunes while you read this article to really get you in the retro mood!

We spoke with Noelle Marinelli about makeup and grooming — she’s the go-to expert when it comes to all things makeup, especially how to do 80s makeup styles yourself. We’re going to cover more than just blue eyeshadow and too much hot pink blush. We’re also going to talk about 80’s hairstyles and makeup today and what’s on the forefront for your face and head. I hope you’re wearing your high-waisted acid washed jeans for this one.

Instead of thinking of 80’s makeup as cheesy or gaudy we feel about it as new-wave, adventurous, and avant-garde. It’s hot hot hot! Makeup has progressed into something even more spectacular in 2019 because we’ve got years of history to look back upon that tie in with the 80’s makeup trends that were so popular.

80s makeup trends we are excited about

80s makeup trends aren’t just about cleaning your face. But when you are doing makeup, it’s essential to start with a clean ‘palette’. Use soap and water or cleanser of your choice before you get started. Now you’re ready to get some 80’s makeup tips that would even make Molly Ringwald jealous with gloss-lipped envy.

According to Marinelli, “80’s style makeup is all about bright colors and strong shapes.  My best tip would be to use makeup that is highly pigmented and to contour your cheekbones!” One of the prime examples we can look up to was not a woman. It was David Bowie (rest in peace). Remember the bold makeup he rocked on album covers and videos? This is the direction you’ll want to take.

80s hairstyles and makeup aren’t just for women

There may be some men out there that want to try out some of these techniques out too. You don’t have to go Bowie style and rock a giant lightning bolt across your face. A tiny one near your eye will do just fine. But when you turn back the clock to 80s hairstyles and makeup trends, you don’t want to be too subtle either.

Let’s talk about how to do 80s makeup that is found on the city streets right now (that you can easily steal!)

Another thing noticed by makeup and grooming artist Noelle Marinelli is this: “I have noticed much brighter colors on lips and eyes, especially reddish-pink and yellow tones on eyes and darker lips reminiscent of 80’s goth style.”

So modern makeup trends with a twist don’t always have to have purple and blue eyeshadow. One of the big statements you can make in the eyeshadow department is reddish pink (so freaking hot!) and yellow tones. The gold shimmer is your new best friend when it comes to batting those lashes. Classic black mascara works with every eyeshadow and if you want to get really funky, match your mascara and eyeliner with the shadow.

Fake lashes are tremendous. Even when you get lash extensions at the salon, your eyes will scream “I’m here to be seen”. A gold shimmer with heavy black eyeliner and wing-tips are also highly recommended. You will be placed on the pedestal.

If you want to go for an ultra classic 80s style makeup style, we’ve got one of the best ever!

The ladies from Robert Palmer’s video “Addicted To Love” have one of the very best looks that will never go out of style. These guitar rocking ladies will be in fashion forever as far as we’re concerned.

We’ll show you how to do 80s makeup in this simple tutorial.

  • First, fill in your brows with a dark brown tone and fluff them up with a brow brush and set with brow gel or tamer.
  • Use some lid primer on your eyes then get black gel liner starting from the middle.
  • Pile on the black liner to a large wing that reaches toward the sky and underline your lower lash from the inner corner.
  • Use a contour brush to add on a dark smokey brown eyeshadow.
  • Curl your lashes, unless you’ve got lash extensions. Then pile on tons of mascara!
  • Use a little concealer under your eyes and blend. Cover up any freckles or blemishes with the concealer then blend to really define the separation of your eyes.
  • Then use foundation and blend to your neck.
  • Use some matte powder to get rid of any shine.

We’re almost done with this classic 80’s makeup look you’ll love!

  • Apply some dark pink blush on your cheekbones and a little above your brow. Make it stand out!
  • Now put on some dark pink, red lip liner and then a glossy candy red lipstick. Fill it in and get ready to rock! Oh yeah. We’re talking the same color of red candy apples that you crave at the county fair. It’ll make you want to take a bite of yourself because you’ll look so delicious.

Now that we’ve gotten into some fundamental 80s makeup trends let’s get to hair the that goes along with these bold styles.

“I am waiting for asymmetrical hair to have a comeback, and praying that huge bangs are left in the past.   I am also currently noticing more structured, chin-length bobs,” said Marinelli. Who doesn’t want an asymmetrical cut? You do! Unless you don’t, and in that case . . .

If you’re not ready to go under the beauty shop knife, you can do like the Palmer video girls do with their hair.

Here’s the amazingly simple fix.

  • First, spritz your hair with water then put the hair gel throughout your locks.
  • Grab your fine-toothed comb and pull your hair back into a ponytail. If your ponytail is a little too dry, gel some more and wrap your hair into a tight bun. Use bobby pins to hold any stragglers at the back. Give a coat of hairspray all over and using your fine-tooth comb flatten out any stragglers.

We all know that people have different skin tones. If you have a darker skin tone, Marinelli has some tips for you too! “Highly-pigmented shades are key when using bright colors on darker skin tones.  An eyeshadow primer can also help to make colors pop, as can layering powder formulations over cream-based products.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed these 80s makeup and hair tips. Now you can rock the streets with your new, um I mean retro 80’s look.

Looking for the most must-try stunning winter makeup looks and trends that most professional makeup artists recommend? Click here and check out what we love.

Must-try stunning winter makeup looks

Almost every winter has seen me asking myself, “What kind of makeup should I wear?” This is because winter’s cold, dry air cares less about your skin. Our skin often can’t stand the harsh conditions that come with this season. Despite this, you can look stunning with the right winter makeup that is available on the market for different skin tones to give you the best winter glow on cold days out.

I have always loved winter eye makeup, and I know many of you do. This article will be taking you through our best winter makeup looks and some makeup do’s and don’ts you should remember.

Dark, bold lips

Dare winter with bold burgundy, maroon, or dark brown lip colors. These lip colors make a resounding statement irrespective of the occasion.

It is better to keep the rest of your makeup as natural and as neutral as possible since you might not like winter makeup colors that are too bold. Pairing the dark lip colors with bold shadows that have dark hues will be a bit too much. But if you don’t mind the overpowering look, you can wear them together.

Makeup artist, Tom Pecheux ascribes to this, describing dark lip tones as being “sophisticated” in their own way.

Stay away from matte lipsticks. On an already flaky, dry lip, they’ll look blotchy and ugly. So, exfoliate your lips and apply creamy lipsticks.

Smoky, dramatic eyes

Winter makeup colors for the perfect winter eyeshadow looks include dark purple, dark brown, navy blue, burgundy, black, copper, light shimmery pink, rose gold, gold, and silver. Winter makeup is all about trying out darker tones on your eyes and lips. So, you can go all the way and be as dramatic as spring and summer would never allow.

Celebrity makeup artist, Tobi Henney is very particular about smoky eyes with navy blue tones. She incorporates these into her winter makeup looks.

Sparkly, smoky eyes give a chic look that is appropriate for an unending list of occasions. Bright eyes are often accompanied by neutral lips. However, you can ignore the winds and be as shouty as possible with your look.

Always apply the dark hues onto the middle and outer corners of your eyes and the light hues on the inner parts of the eyes. Whatever you go for just keep the eye colors well blended.

One of the winter eyeshadow looks that look amazing on almost anyone is a mix of colors to achieve a well-blended ‘onion hue’ to go with eye-catching burgundy lips. It’s a must-try winter look for all well-moisturized skin types.

Glossy Lids and Lips

Winter air is notorious for flaking and cracking our lips. This can be prevented with lip gloss, thanks to the various shades in which they are available. You can avoid these cracks with a glossy finish to your lip look. Glossy lids also go well with the glossy lips. When using moisturizers on your skin, always use an eye cream to keep your lids hydrated too.

Makeup Dos

Moisturize your skin

To achieve a glowy look this winter, moisturize your skin as much as possible. Its importance cannot be overemphasized. This will boost your skin’s natural tone and glow.

Makeup artist, Erwin Gomez, suggests that you moisturize your skin while it’s still damp while Marina Gravani recommends that you moisturize before getting in the shower so that the steam gets the moisturizer deep into your skin.

Hydrate your skin during this cold season by applying your moisturizers as frequently as possible.

Use a hydrating primer

With a hydrating primer, your foundation will look a lot better. Before priming, use a toner to remove as many flakes as possible. It will help even out your skin.

Dampen your beauty blender

With your damp beauty blender, press foundation onto your skin to cover whatever flakiness is left. Do not rub or drag the blender over your skin as this would only worsen the condition of your skin and give you a blotchy, uneven finish.

Get your blush on!

Blush warms up your look, giving you a certain rosiness that the cold seems to sniff out. It revives your washed out face and awakens your pale skin.

For the best winter look, apply a little blush beneath your cheekbones and blend it towards the cheekbones.

Makeup Don’ts

Avoid matte products

In warmer seasons, matte products work wonders by keeping your skin as dry as possible. But, the opposite is needed in winter. Matte products will only further highlight your already flaky skin. Therefore, use liquid or cream foundation that will serve as the perfect base and give you a stunning, even finish. If the weather is too dewy, you can always apply some setting powder, especially in the t-zone areas of your face.

Avoid powder highlighters

In place of powder highlighters, you should use liquid highlighters.  A perfect combination of the right products will give you a fine makeup look despite the harsh weather.

Take note of the above makeup do’s and don’ts and always use the makeup that is recommended for your skin tone. Whatever look go for, stay stunning this winter.

If you are looking for smart ways on how to cut your own hair or trim it at home here are some tips for you. Don’t forget to watch the instructional video.

So how do you cut your own hair perfectly?

These days, people look for ways to cut costs. Search for a DIY video on anything and you will find it. This article contains detailed ways on how to cut your own hair. However, if it is a complicated haircut, I would recommend sparing a few bucks and going to a professional hair stylist. A lot could go wrong when you’re handling scissors… especially if it’s your first time. But, if you just want a quick trim then allow me to show you how you can go about cutting hair at home.

Before you even begin cutting hair at home, there are some things you need to factor in as per the little research carried out for you by Love Is All Colors

Things to factor in when cutting your own hair

  • What will be the best sitting or standing position that will give you enough access based on the look you are going for? Make sure you are comfortable and in control throughout the cutting process.
  • Buy a good and sharp pair of scissors. A good pair of scissors is very essential if you want to have a good haircut.
  • If possible, try having someone there with you to give you feedback and evaluate the haircut from all angles before you step out with the look. Sometimes, the mirror can mislead you. Make sure, whoever you choose is someone who can be brutally honest with you.
  • Decide on the hairstyle. Check out pictures of celebrities or hairstyle magazines. Whatever haircut you settle on, make sure it suits your face. Your facial features need to be similar to the model wearing the haircut you settle on.
  • Decide whether the hair should be wet or dry for the haircut. Generally, it is recommended to cut the hair when wet because it’s way easier to manage and control in that state. On the other hand and according to some professionals, cutting the hair when it’s dry has its own advantage too. It allows you to access the effect of the cut and make quick adjustments if you are dealing with curly hair that has cowlicks.
  • If you are cutting your hair when it’s wet, start by shampooing and conditioning the hair. Dry off excess water by wrapping a towel around the hair and dabbing it gently. Comb the hair straight. If you usually straighten your hair, make sure you do so before the cut. If you are cutting it when it is dry, avoid using hair products that might affect the texture of your hair.

Ways of cutting different hairstyles

The high ponytail method – Cutting hair into layers

  • Wash, dry and straighten the hair especially if your hair is frizzy. When cutting hair using the ponytail method, it is important to have the hair dry.
  • Tip your head and brush the hair up into a ponytail just above your forehead. Determine how long you would like the front layer to be.
  • Proceed to shear off the ponytail at the desired length. Once you are done chopping it, hold the scissors in an upward direction and snip the ends. (Please refer to the video for illustration.) Let your hair down and admire that layering.

The low ponytail method – Slightly rounded look at the back

  • This is a wet cut hairstyle. All you need to do is part the already wet hair in the middle, comb it back and tie an elastic band at the back of the head.
  • Place a second elastic at the desired length. Chop the excess hair after the second ponytail holder.
  • Remove the elastic holds and shake hair into position.

Cutting curly hair

There are many videos on how to cut your own hair short. However, cutting curly hair can be quite tricky. How do you cut your own hair especially if it’s curly without messing the entire hair up?

  • Wet the hair a bit in order to make it easier to detangle. Always use a wide-toothed comb in order to minimize breakage.
  • Dry the hair since with curly hair, the length might vary based on whether it’s wet or dry.
  • Separate your hair into the section to enable you to control the cut better. Pull the hair bit by bit, access it and trim the ends of the damaged curls.
  • Separate the trimmed curls from the untrimmed curls.
  • Once done, style as desired.

Cutting your own hair is not such a hard task. All you need is a little patience and caution. Remember to check out Youtube tutorials that give step by step instructions on the best way to cut your own hair.

There’s nothing as beautiful as a full head of shiny, bouncy curly hair. It is even Hollywood famous. Remember when Mariah Carey first burst out on the scene with her springy curls? All hair types are gorgeous, and yours will flourish if you know the tips and tricks for your curly hair type.

How to Style Curly Hair

Work it from the tips

Comb the hair from the tips upwards to avoid making a mess of your hair and having a big ball of tangled floof to detangle. Working your curly hair from the bottom up will also prevent major breakage.

hair styling curlsCombing and detangling

Unfortunately, there’s no avoiding those annoying snags and tangles. The good news is that your dry, frizzy, curly hair can bounce back if you know how to manage curly hair. The goal is to comb out the kinks. First, use your fingers to detangle before you comb your hair. Then go in with a wide-tooth comb and get it all out. Hairbrushes and detangling don’t work together, so keep your brush locked away in the drawer during the detangling process.

Moisturize, moisturize!

A good conditioner will turn your hair from drab to fab! You can turn your dry frizzy curly hair into beautiful, shiny curls. However, you do not want to weigh down your curls with too much product. Just massage a generous blob of your favorite conditioner in your hair and you’re good to go. A good moisturizing regimen will help you achieve your hair goals if you want to know how to keep curly hair curly.

Maintaining your curls while you sleep

Protecting your hair at night is a great curly hair hack. Want to wake up all sunny and happy while singing Beyoncé’s flawless? Then Tuck your hair into a silk or satin bonnet before you hit the sack. This way you’ll enjoy a beautiful sleep and wake up to amazingly beautiful hair.

trimming hair endsTrim your ends

It is natural to recoil in horror whenever your hair stylist approaches you with a pair of scissors. Don’t run from them now, because sometimes you need a little snip at your ends to maintain healthy hair. Regular trims will keep split ends at bay. Add regular trims to your bag of curly hair tips and tricks.

A Shampoo is sometimes the enemy

If you have dry curly hair, you might want to reconsider how you wash your hair. Substitute your regular shampoo for conditioners. Lather your hair generously with your conditioner and wash as you would with a shampoo.

Don’t wash your hair on rainy and humid days

Curly hair isn’t very humidity friendly. To avoid bad hair days and poofy, uncontrollable hair, don’t wash your hair on rainy days. On wet and humid days, straightening curly hair might be very tempting. However, I urge you to reconsider now, will you? This too shall pass!

dry frizzy curly hairThrow out the towel

Towels rough up your curls and make your hair frizzy and dull. Set an old T-shirt aside to dry your hair, but if you’re feeling a bit extravagant, you can go ahead and invest in a brand new one. The fabric of the T-shirt glides over your hair smoothly while also absorbing excess moisture. This is a great curly hair hack that keeps your curly hair curly.

Maintaining your curls after washing

Don’t wait until you’re sitting in front of your vanity mirror before you comb your hair. Condition and comb your hair while you’re still in the shower to avoid the frizz and keep your curly hair curly. This is how to brush out curls without ruining them

Love your ends

You’ll have to show your ends extra TLC to keep the frizz and split ends at bay. Moisturize your ends even more frequently than you do your whole hair.

curly hairstylesWhen in doubt, pineapple!

If you’re wondering how to style your curly hair when you’re on the go, look no further than the pineapple. This hairstyle is glamorous and playful all at once, and it allows you to wear your beautiful curls like a crown.

Hair styling curls

Your hair is versatile and can hold just about any hairstyle. This means you have an array of natural hairstyles to choose from. Always go for styles that will flatter the shape of your face and styles that will work with the length of your hair.

So, go ahead and show off your curly mane.

Almost one month later and we’re still talking about Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show – in particular, the diverse range of models who graced the catwalk. Oh, and the fact that one of the pregnant models shortly gave birth after the show… no biggie!

However, it’s time to temporarily fixate on something else, as Rihanna has just revealed that a black lipstick shade has FINALLY come to her Fenty Beauty range. This is huge!

Rihanna has been teasing us with the new Stunna lip paint shades from her new Fenty Beauty range on social media, whetting our appetites for the big reveal, no doubt.

The three new shades, covetable as they are, are pretty standard as far as lipstick shades go. (Don’t get us wrong, we will still be purchasing them all due to their dreamy consistency and the fact that they do not move. At all!)

However, the fourth and final one has taken our breath away, as Rihanna has finally developed a black lipstick shade. A liquid, matte-black lipstick shade called Uninvited. And we cannot deal!

“I had to make sure we have one smooth, rich and black #STUNNA that’s perfect for ALL skin tones,” she wrote on Instagram.

We guess we’ll forgive her for taking such a long time to develop it. Fenty Beauty posted a picture of Rihanna rocking the lipstick on Instagram, with the following caption:

“Being #UNINVITED never felt so damn good! @badgalriri created our newest soft-matte #STUNNA Lip Paint in a rule-defying black to change the game. Whoever said you couldn’t pull off a black lip, was wrong!

Available now *online only* at fentybeauty.com, @sephora, @harveynichols, and #SephorainJCP! #SHOWUPUNINVITED”

We cannot wait to try it!

Will we look as good as Rihanna? Probably not. Will we give it a go? You bet!

Kim Kardashian – who is no stranger to being mommy-shamed – has once again angered the internet, this time for straightening daughter North West’s hair.

The five-year-old was spotted rocking a sleek, straight Ariana Grande style ponytail while out and about in New York… and the internet had a lot to say about it.

Critics were particularly confused over Kim K’s choices, as the reality TV star turned global businesswoman spoke of how proud she and North are of her naturally curly hair, and how hard they try to embrace it.

Kim even famously took hair styling lessons to learn how to braid black hair and how to style her daughter’s naturally curly locks…

“She’s obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, ‘You have curly hair like me?’ And we get to talk about it,” she previously told Interview magazine.

The race aspect

The thing is, there is a racial aspect to all this.

We have all heard of the European beauty standards. Even at workplaces, black hair has been considered “unprofessional and unkempt”. So some people have been forced to straighten their hair so that they don’t suffer the consequences that come with it.

Looking at it that way, people might argue that Kim is trying to make the child look more white. That way, she can get to enjoy the privileges that come with being white.

Cue the social media criticism…

@_vivrantthang_

I really hate how the kardashians keep straightening that poor baby’s hair tho. North west gonna have heat damage before she’s 10- before I even knew what a straightener was smh

Tiss’Challa @NaturallyTiss

North West is still a baby and has straight hair. I know we all had straight hair too at that age but it’s 2018! The enlightened YouTube era! Come on KimberYe get it together

@Chibambo

People going on about how “f**king gorgeous” North West is now that her hair has been straightened.

As always, there has also been a lot of support for Kim Kardashian and her parenting choices too…

@KIMWESTSOURCE_

Kim has taken such good care of North’s curls over the years. The comments about North’s hair being straightened is tired. First of all, mind your own children

@TameeraC_

North West with straight hair, so cute! she looks like. Different person

Where do you guys stand on the North West straight hair drama?
