How can this be a thankful thanksgiving? See, we have always been looking forward to all our holidays. We do all the planning early enough… we shop for our gifts early and get so excited about the holiday season. Well, this year things are for sure are going to be different. With restrictions that have been put in place, I am sure you are even wondering if it’s even remotely possible to take advantage of the Walmart Black Friday and get your loved one a gift.

Even in these tough times, there is a lot to be thankful for. Read on as I tell you some of the things to be grateful for amid the pandemic…

Thanksgiving during corona pandemic

Before I even get to the thanksgiving bit, one thing we need to talk about is how we need to conduct ourselves during this time. See, even if you don’t believe in the restrictions, try as much as possible to avoid gathering a big group of friends and family members because, believe it or not, if we all resort to this kind of thing, the whole thanksgiving holiday will have been for nothing. We will have less to be thankful for because of the much higher numbers of covid infections a week later.

With everything being different, I had to stop and pause to reflect on what I have to be thankful for. This is an exercise we do with the kids every year around the dinner table, and it’s usually fairly easy–we have so much–but this year, with everything we “lost”, it can be hard to find joy and thankfulness in our hearts. But when you look at it, despite the pandemic, we have so much to be thankful for during this coronavirus thanksgiving.

Let’s look at some of the things I feel you can and need to be thankful for…

Life

Are you alive? One of the things that I have learned to be grateful for this year is every breath I take. I have been hearing the way people have trouble breathing because of the coronavirus. So for every breath I take, I am thankful. So be thankful that you got to see another thanksgiving despite all that is happening. These days, matters of life and death are very real.

Health

Be thankful thanksgiving for health. Health this year is one of the things everyone needs to be grateful for especially if you have managed to survive contacting the coronavirus. This has become one of the biggest health issues that have even made the world go into lockdown. So if you got lucky, be thankful. If you got sick and healed then that should be on your list of things to be thankful for at thanksgiving. And in case you are grappling with any illness, being grateful for other little things working out for you can uplift your spirits. For instance…

The roof over your head

You might be taking some things for granted but thanksgiving in 2020 will really make people appreciate a lot of things in their lives. Have you ever thought to think about what the homeless in the streets live like? Imagine the cold that they will have to deal with during the holidays. So even if you are feeling like ‘what’s there to be happy about’, if you have a roof over your head, then that is something to be grateful for.

Music

Music has a way of always putting someone into a great mood. Music can be very uplifting. So if you are feeling low this Thanksgiving, how about putting on your favorite jam? Just that first bit will turn things around for you.

Little freedoms

Before the covid restrictions, most people used to take things like the freedom to walk for granted. The day we were told to stay at home was the day I realized just how much I missed that freedom. Well, at least some of these restrictions have eased up a bit. At least we are allowed to walk in our masks. Think about it… At least you can sit in front of the TV and watch whatever t is you want. At least you have a choice and the freedom to marry whoever you marry or date. You have the freedom to date online. You have the freedom of speech – you can speak freely without the fear that you will be thrown in jail.

This thanksgiving during corona pandemic, be thankful for the freedom to choose whatever you want.

Technology

… and smartphones of course. Well, this is a thankful thanksgiving because without the internet and our smartphones, I have no idea how most people would have survived the lockdown. What would you have done without Netflix? What would you have done without ZOOM, social media sites, Whatsapp, online dating? Just think about it.

One of the things that the internet has helped with is it has helped people stay in contact with their families and friends. People have been able to work from home. We have been able to do our businesses online. People are able to shop online. Because of this technology, most of us have managed to stay safe during the pandemic. So if you think that during this coronavirus thanksgiving there is nothing to be thankful for, take a minute, and think again. Just be thankful that you have the technology.

Water

Well, on top of the list of things to be thankful for at thanksgiving, water is it. If there is something that has been able to help us stay safe is water. We can wash our hands constantly with soap and water. Well, besides, being able to stay safe, one thing about water that you need to be thankful for is clean drinking water. Plus, you can have a shower whenever you want. Isn’t that just great?

Be thankful thanksgiving because at least you have the option of staying safe. We all need to acknowledge the fact that there has been a surge in covid cases lately. Do not be tempted to let your guard down. This thing is as real as it can be. To be honest, many thanksgiving dinners are going to add to the risk of the spread of the disease.

Kindly forget involving your whole extended family. Instead, settle for virtual holiday celebrations, starting with thanksgiving in 2020. What begins as a cough at dinner can end up becoming life-threatening for the whole family. There is no sugarcoating things. Those large indoor family dinners will put all of you at risk especially because there are lots of asymptomatic cases.

If you really have to be with your family, consider a socially distanced thanksgiving outdoors. But if you ask me, I would advise you and your family members to follow CDC guidelines and stop the gatherings. Health officials have already warned about a surge in the number of infections during thanksgiving. Wear a mask. Social distance. Avoid indoor gatherings. Better safe than sorry. Have that virtual thanksgiving dinner and be thankful for our technological advancements and the internet.

Well, that didn’t last long… even by celeb standards!

Last month, we told you that Pamela Anderson, 52, and 74-year-old producer Jon Peters had tied the knot in Malibu, after rekindling their romance from 30 years ago.

It now seems like they are having second thoughts about their relationship, as reports are claiming that the newlyweds have decided to take some time apart.

Pamela Anderson reportedly flew to Canada on Saturday morning, just a few days after posting a seemingly happy picture of herself and her new husband on her Instagram Story.

However, it turns out that their marriage was not legalized, as the former Baywatch star and A Star Is Born producer never officially signed the paperwork. Which we guess makes the fact that they are ending things a lot easier…

So imagine being a combination of the two and having to deal with family, friends, and society in general. Race is a complex issue within the gay community. That said, in recent years it is very easy to spot a gay interracial couple. The numbers between the year 2000 and the year 2010 have increased significantly fast. Plus, gay couples are as likely as heterosexual couples to get into interracial relationships. If anything same-sex couples are most likely to be interracial or interethnic. Plus when looking at the issue of racial composition, black gay men are more likely to date interracially.

The increasing independence of young adults has made them make bolder decisions about their choices of whom they date based on ethnicity and sex.

Geographical mobility

The geographical mobility of young adults also gives them independence from their communities of origin and cultures. According to studies, non-traditional couples (same-sex and interracial) tend to be more geographically mobile.

More support of gay relationships

Looking at the years back, there are more people support same-sex marriage compared to those who see it as taboo. So more people who are in the closet are coming out. At the same time, more states in the U.S., as well as other countries, are legalizing gay marriages and gay rights. And even those who probably haven’t yet legalized the marriages recognize gay rights. The thing is, the acceptance of people of a gay interracial relationship is increasing in every age, ethnicity, and gender since 2004.

Interracial dating is slightly more common in same-sex couples than in heterosexual ones

Looking at the racial and ethnic compositions of same-sex couples gay couples tend to be interracial, especially when it comes to black-white couples. For instance, gay black men are more likely to be in interracial unions. About 1/3 of all gay male relationships are interracial.

Now, most tend to associate this homophobia with all people from their communities. So when they date interracially, they get the opportunity to focus on the relationship without having to deal with all the racial baggage.

Why it is harder being in an interracial gay relationship

One thing we have to agree on is that we are lumping two stressors into one relationship. The race aspect and the same-sex aspect. So this definitely doesn’t make it easier. They get discriminated both for being gay and for being an interracial couple.

The other thing is, you might have gotten acceptance as being an LGBT person but then you can also be pushed out because you fell in love with someone from a different race. So the tolerance of interracial relationships we have fought for and achieved when looking at straight interracial couples can splinter when a same-sex factor is added to the equation.

There is also a higher risk of being discriminated against. Both larger groups, ‘gay couples’ or ‘interracial couples’ may feel threatened by the other with hurtful stereotypes cropping up. For instance, the gay component might see sexual orientation as intrinsic and the interracial aspect as a choice.

The thing is, even gay men on any interracial gay dating app and within society can actually be racist too.

Simply put, some gays can be racist. And people of all races can be homophobes. The gay interracial couple must cope with these issues. Also, they should deal with any consternation visited upon them by the community around them. It can be a heavy burden to bear.

But you know what, people are making it work. Whether we like it or not, there will always be bigots and racists to deal with. But hey, let’s look at the bright side… The numbers are showing that there is increased acceptance. And for me, that is a good thing.

Find books and watch media that look like your family and kids

So the first tip for raising interracial kids is to look for these books with people who look like them (biracial) or look like your family (interracial). And like I said, we are in luck! Much as it isn’t such a wide collection, these books are still there. Taye Diggs has one called “Mixed Me” where he speaks about wanting his biracial child to identify with both worlds. The thing is, most interracial couples kids love seeing people with similar hair and skin color.

Teach your child to embrace their mixed identity

As I mentioned earlier, on “Mixed Me”, Diggs wanted his child to identify as biracial and embrace both worlds. I believe its imperative that parents of interracial children make it their sole responsibility of guiding their children to embrace both cultures. Let your child be proud of their identity and both sides of their cultural heritage. This is very helpful in building their character in terms of acceptance and tolerance of other people’s cultures.

Also, let them grow with unbiased views of both races. We don’t want them growing up thinking that all Caucasians are racist, right? Steer clear from overexposing your interracial marriage children to the differences in the two cultures. Instead, focus on exposing them to the best of both worlds. Emphasize on unity and let them understand that choosing one race over the other is not tolerated.

Learn how to style biracial hair

If you are a white mother married to a black man, then you might have to go through rounds of tutorials just to learn how to style your cute baby’s fizzy hair to make it look like that of her cute black cousins. See, the thing is, the hair of black-white interracial kids isn’t as silky and easy to style as what you might be used to. You can’t avoid the hair journey.

You might have to take hair care lessons to learn detangling techniques. Plus you will also have to invest in good detangling conditioners and also probably teach yourself how to braid your child’s hair as Kim Kardashian did. Much as all this might seem a bit overwhelming, you’ll still have to learn enough to keep your kid’s hair well hydrated and detangled.

Participate in their traditions

It is important to give children of interracial relationships the chance to be exposed to all cultures and traditions of their parents. Enrich your child’s life by enriching them with their cultures and teaching them to proud of their rich cultural heritage and proud to be a part of more than one culture. For instance, if one parent celebrates Christmas and other doesn’t, as parents, give the kids the chance to participate in this holiday and then let them make their choices about whether or not to celebrate it as adults.

Encourage language development

Sometimes, being part of an interracial family comes with being a multilingual family. Bringing up kids in a multilingual environment is one of the perks of interracial relationships. Teach them the languages of both parents so that they grow up as part of both heritages. Speak to your child in your native language too. Help them acquire language skills. In the process, when visiting either side of the parents’ families, they will feel like they are a part of it.

Find an interracial community

If you are a new interracial family, look for families that are like you and that share your mindset. Those with the goal of raising interracial kids as world citizens. Seek communities that foster pride and respect for diversity and multiculturalism. Also, expose your kids to people who are integrated and are accepting of other’s cultural backgrounds respectfully.

You can join online communities and network with other interracial families. Join multicultural communities that support diverse individuals and families.

Khloe Kardashian has made no secret of the fact that she is hurt and confused by Caitlyn Jenner’s public comments about their alleged ongoing feud.

Anyone watching Caitlyn on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will know that she has mentioned (on more than one occasion) that she and Khloe have been feuding for years.

And according to reports, Khloe is “hurt” and “blindsided” by the comments…

“Khloe rejects the notion they’re still beefing,” a source told TMZ.

“She’s hurt by Caitlyn’s accusation there’s tension.”

On the TV show, Caitlyn Jenner told her I’m a Celeb campmates that she and Khloe haven’t talked for over five years – with one of her reasons being because of her transition.

“Khloe for some reason was pissed off about something through this whole process,” Caitlyn Jenner said on the show, in relation to her coming out as transgender in 2015.

“Honestly, it’s been five, six years and I really haven’t talked to her since. I don’t know what it is, and that’s all I can say.”

However, according to reports, Khloe was “completely supportive” of Caitlyn’s sex change, and the feud was actually to do with Caitlyn’s comments about Khloe’s mother, Kris Jenner, in her recent memoir. Something which all of the Kardashian/Jenner girls were reportedly unhappy with – not just Khloe!

Plus, Khloe reportedly texted Caitlyn on her 70^th birthday this year, and also sent her an enormous bunch of roses, which we definitely wouldn’t do if were actively feuding with someone.

Megan Fox has revealed that she suffered a psychological breakdown at the height of her career.

The 33-year-old actress opened up to Entertainment Tonight about how being hypersexualized in Hollywood had affected her ten years ago. She told the publication that being regarded as one of the sexiest women in Hollywood had traumatic effects on her mental health.

She opened up about her constant fear of being mocked, and admitted that she had reached “breaking point” when her movie Jennifer’s Body was released back in 2009…

“I think I had a genuine psychological breakdown where I wanted just nothing to do,” she shared with Entertainment Tonight.

“I didn’t want to be seen, I didn’t want to have to take a photo, do a magazine, walk a carpet, I didn’t want to be seen in public at all because the fear, and the belief, and the absolute certainty that I was going to be mocked, or spat at, or someone was going to yell at me, or people would stone me or savage me for just being out … so I went through a very dark moment after that.”

Things got even worse for the actress after she spoke out about how Transformers director Michael Bay had mistreated her. And she definitely felt that her career suffered because of her honesty…

“I feel like I was sort of out and in front of the #MeToo movement before the #MeToo movement happened, I was speaking out and saying, ‘Hey, these things are happening to me and they’re not OK,’” she continued.

“And everyone was like, ‘Oh well, f–k you. We don’t care, you deserve it.’ Because everybody talked about how you looked or how you dressed or the jokes you made.”

Despite the sudden pause in her Hollywood career, Megan Fox revealed that her marriage to Brian Austin Green and their three children – Noah, Journey, and Bodhi – helped her put things into perspective…

“I think it took getting pregnant ― that was the first real breakthrough where my consciousness shifted and my mind opened up and I was able to see from a bird’s-eye view and breath and take it in,” she said.

“And then another kid, and then another kid and with every kid I feel like that’s always been the doorway into a better version of myself.”

We’re glad that Megan Fox has opened up about her struggles, and are relieved to hear that she is back to feeling like her best self!

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth aren’t even divorced yet, but it looks like the 26-year-old singer is already taking things to the next level with rumoured new girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter.

According to reports, Miley Cyrus and 30-year-old Kaitlynn Carter are getting closer by the day, with multiple sources even stating that the friends-turned-lovers are living together!

“They live together and are very happy,” an insider told People.

“Miley is doing great. She is moving on.

“She seems to have no regrets. She loves being with Kaitlynn.”

It looks like the ladies want to spend as much time together as possible.

They made no attempt to hide their feelings for each other at the MTV VMAs, and were reportedly together for the entire Labor Day weekend.

They were even spotted having lunch with Miley’s mother, Tish, on Sunday!

And that wasn’t the first time the new couple have spent with Miley’s mom…

“Miley and Kaitlynn have been spending time at Miley’s mom’s house,” another source previously told E! News.

“They all went out to lunch together on Saturday afternoon at Soho House in West Hollywood. The three of them drove together in Tish’s car. They were deep in conversation.

“They had lunch in the restaurant and stayed at the club for almost two hours. They all left together and returned to Tish’s house at the end.”

Sounds like Miley and Kaitlynn are having the best time together!
