It goes without saying, but video calls are one of the only things getting us through this Coronavirus pandemic. And we love how some of our favorite famous faces are doing their bit to boost morale by making their videos to cheer us up!

Last night, it was the turn of the original High School Musical cast to put smiles on our faces, as they reunited for an epic singalong to We’re All in This Together – a very apt song title given our current situation.

Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman performed an outstanding rendition of the song, which is sung at the end of the first movie. But wait a minute – where was Zac Efron?

It’s true, Zac Efron was nowhere to be seen – or heard – during the singalong, although he did introduce his co-stars before their performance. So he wasn’t completely MIA…

Understandably, many fans weren’t happy with his singalong absence, which host Ryan Seacrest tried to blame on a poor WiFi connection…

Are we going to ignore the fact that Zac Efron…a very high profile celebrity, pretended to have bad connection on his phone in 2020 so that he wouldn’t have to sing in the High School Musical reunion

@laurazal4

I can’t believe that zac efron had the nerve to NOT sing in the high school musical reunion. I’m upset

@novicecinephile

Zac Efron really did them dirty. A pandemic is going on and the man still won’t sing with the High School Musical cast.

@alanaxhunter

I’m so tired of Zac Enron being a killjoy when it comes to High School Musical!! The man can’t sing one note with the rest of his cast? To bring joy in the middle of this pandemic? F**k outta here, Bundy.

@minosvapepen

Zac Efron we are in a PANDEMIC you are not above to open up your webcam and sing We’re All In This Together with the rest of the High School Musical cast it’s literally the LEAST you could do right now.

As you can see, Twitter was not happy!

However, HSM director Kenny Ortega tried to clear Zac Efron’s name by suggesting that the singalong came together extremely quickly, and Zac was simply unreachable at the starting time…

“We couldn’t reach Zac until late but when we did, he immediately jumped in, of course,” Kenny Ortega told Deadline.

“Everyone we reached out to was quick—and you’ll see it in their spirit and the way they come together from their homes. They recognize this is an opportunity to strengthen spirits for those joining us for the broadcast.”

Interesting…

Who do you believe?
