Now we all have a type. So, if your type is the ‘Harry Potter’ type, who are we to judge. One thing most people who end up falling for men and women who wear glasses will tell you that it is not that they go actively looking for someone who wears glasses.

That said though, whether it is the sunglasses or reading glasses, most people are spotting the look because they think glasses are sexy. You might find even those with no underlying eye issues wearing them just so that they can also be in the glasses wave.

So, what really makes people look handsome in glasses and magnetically beautiful in glasses? Let’s take a look.

Here I am sure most ladies and guys alike will agree with me on this one. The dude wears those glasses perfectly. Ken Clark really pulled off the glasses look. Plus, what made it even better is how the dude used to bravely run into danger and rescuing people. Then there was the added hotness that is enhanced whenever he rips off his clothes. Need I continue to explain why people look handsome in glasses after that ripping off of clothes ?

To add on to this superhero look, we cannot forget Peter Parker/Spiderman. Do they save the world better in glasses? May be glasses are the best villain detectors. As the steps on his skateboard, one thing we can agree on is that Spiderman is one of the hottest people with glasses.

Glasses make people look intelligent. Intelligent is sexy

Most women are drawn to men who look like they are smooth, sexy geniuses. Like it or not, glasses, especially the shapes that are trending these days make everybody look more intelligent. The thing smart is sexy. Ask any woman, they will attest to this.

Glasses and books just go together

Apparently, people who love books are the best lovers. Well, it makes a lot of sense as they would probably research about various moves to lure a man or woman. The thing is, bookworms try to find ways to please a man or woman. Then have you ever been given that ‘I know you have been watching me’ look by someone who was gazing at a book then suddenly looked up? Well, that does have an arousing effect, that’s for sure.

Guys with glasses seem more reliable

One of the other reasons that glasses make people look hot is that they sort of give a vibe of someone being reliable. When you see a person with glasses the first thing that the nerdy look gives off is that this person will never let you down.

They are the indoor sunglasses

I f you are the kind of person who believes that glasses are sexy then whenever you can opt for just clear glasses whenever you are indoors. As I mentioned earlier, sunglasses have a way of making a person look like an upgraded, hotter version of themselves. So if you love how you look when you are wearing your sunglasses outside, then consider clear glasses as a substitute for when you are indoors so that you don’t look like a douche wearing sunglasses indoors. Glasses are your best solution.

Harry Potter made glasses cool

When thinking about this, I remember this episode of ‘Two and a Half Men’ where Jake had put up posters of sexy women on the wall of his bedroom. Now when the grown-ups left he put some glasses on and addressed the posters saying, “Hello ladies. I am Harry Potter” in that British accent. I am sure that British accent that people really love actually made the Harry Potter look pretty sexy. Look at Halloween and how lots of people like spotting the Harry Potter look. Now if there is a guy that made the nerdish look be sexy, it is Harry Potter.

People with glasses fully embrace that look

One thing that makes glasses make you look hot is that people believe that you have embraced the look. The thing with people who wear glasses is that they never hide under contact lenses. They really don’t care about what people think of their looks. These people usually embrace the nerdy look. And that bold statement of “I love the way I look and don’t need to pretend to be someone I am not” is what makes people believe that glasses are sexy.

What makes glasses make you look hot is that you get noticed faster and more than men or women who don’t have glasses on. The thing is, even the men who would normally ignore you will notice you when you have them on. One might not like how you dress, but the glasses will make them notice your eyes. Is Ellen ending her show? Well, there have been some rumors and stories flying around about the end of Ellen DeGeneres show. This is an American comedy TV that debuted on September 8, 2003. The first 5 seasons were recorded at NBC Studios. The following ones were taped at Warner Bros in high def. With 171 Daytime Emmy Award nominations, the show has won 61 of these awards. Other awards have been 4 for Outstanding Talk Show, 7 for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment and 17 People’s Choice Awards.

According to anonymous insiders and Ellen DeGeneres recent news at Telepictures, the infamous talk show host is ready to end her show. The main reason that was cited was a toxic work environment. One of the black female employees on the show said that she has had to deal with racist comments and microaggressions in the one and a half years that she has worked on the show. 11 other former employees also gave detail of shocking stories about the show’s toxic work environment.

This lady claimed that when she was hired, a senior level producer told her and a fellow black colleague: “Oh wow, you both have box braids; I hope we don’t get you confused.” Another one told her “, “I’m sorry, I only know the names of the white people who work here,” as her fellow employees laughed it off awkwardly.

So is Ellen ending her show?

The insider at Telepictures said that Ellen had been talking to executives at Telepictures and Warner Bros telling them that she is ready to put the mic down and walk away from her comedy show. The racism allegations and accounts have created a bad reputation for her personal brand. So Ellen ending her show is just a way to recover her personal brand.

The source also felt that since it is her show, Ellen must have been aware of what has been going on under her nose because, for one, it is her show. So much as the execs are being blamed, most people feel like the buck needed to stop with her, that she is the one to black for the microaggressions and racism happening in her own show.

Low ratings…

As per Ellen DeGeneres recent news, even after ousting 3 of the senior-level execs of the show over the toxic workplace environment and culture, the ratings of the show have gone low. Could the low ratings be the reason for Ellen ending her show? Well her show is not the only one whose ratings have gone down. Even “Dr. Oz”, “The Real” and “The Doctors” have had about and above 20% drop.

Well, maybe the other shows are getting bad ratings because of the Coronavirus pandemic. When the world was turned upside down by this pandemic, in March Ellen had announced on Twitter that she would be recording the show without an audience because she cared about the safety of her fans, crew, and staff. 2 days later she announced a suspension of the show to March 30, 2020.

That said though, after the racism reports, she began talking about abandoning the show, and ever since people started wondering: is the Ellen DeGeneres show over? First off, some people feel like her apology was not sincere. They feel that she is the one who enabled this toxic culture and made it last this long saying that she is pretending to be shocked about hearing the accusations. Apparently, she is not a nice person and the show isn’t filled with the much happiness that is usually portrayed.

Now we have been discussing the rumors that Ellen wanted to end the show. Well, sources close to Ellen have denied these allegations saying she has no plans whatsoever of ending the show. Apparently, these were just rumors.

First off it started with the rumor that the show is being canceled because Ellen is rude to her staff and because of the falling ratings. Telepictures however confirmed that all this was untrue.

What is the fate of the show?

I know you are still wondering, is Ellen ending her show? Well, apparently investigations are going on. So the answer to is Ellen show ending largely depends on the findings. The show is currently under internal investigations into what some employees alleged that the show had a toxic work environment. Besides them citing bullying and racism as the reason for the toxic environment, the employees also cited sexual misconduct.

Warner media is now conducting internal investigations. The initial findings were unfortunately disappointing as they found some deficiencies relating to the management of the show. One thing for sure is that people are wondering whether Warner Bros might pull out solely because of public outrage. Well, it is really not clear at the moment.

One thing for sure is that the show might never recover from these allegations of racial and sexual injustices. It will be challenging. Well, if she admits to having ignored these things as opposed to pretending not to have known, maybe people might give her a second chance.

It will be such a pity for a show with a big brand like Ellen DeGeneres to just come to an end after a whole 17 years. But then again, as I have just said, it’s a big brand with such a massive hit. So there is a chance that it can bounce back. So because of the goodwill, she has built with her fans in terms of entertainment and all, maybe they will find it in their hearts to forgive her.

One thing that people like when celebrities are faced with some misconduct allegations is sincerity and accountability. So if Ellen takes responsibility for having ignored these things that were happening in her own show, under her own nose, maybe she will recover.

People feel that she should address all these things in an episode of her show. But considering the show is in her name, people really expect her to take responsibility for the well being of her employees.

Is Ellen DeGeneres show over? Well, one of the things we have seen is that the allegations are against her senior-level producers. There is nothing that is directly pointing at her. So the fate of the show will largely depend on the findings and how active she might have been in the running of the show. At this point, it shows that she is not a culprit.

The other thing we need to remember is that Ellen has a new contract that is meant to run until 2022. So she might not want to end this based on some allegations. She will most likely fight and make sure that her career and the brand moving on, recovers from these allegations and rebuild a better work environment.

The thing is, she has had the backing of lots of celebrities… recently, Steve Harvey came to her defense calling her the “coolest and the kindest people” in the entertainment business. Ellen has also taken it upon herself to apologize to her staff and has even ousted 3 of her senior producers.

One thing we have to admit is, much as maybe she should have acted sooner in case she knew this was happening, she really had no control over what the staff members were up to. She is definitely taking the hit because it is her name on the show. She is the easiest person to pin all this on her.

So is Ellen ending her show? We have seen above that that is not her intention. Well, she has always been entertaining. It will be sad if this long era comes to an end over something she didn’t do.

Is once a cheater always a cheater true? Well, this is a question that if I may be asked to answer, I would say, not necessarily. That said, science has a different take on this. According to some new research on the once a cheater always a cheater statistics, it seems that people who have cheated before are three times more likely to cheat on their current partners. Read on as we explore this a little bit more…

Do cheaters always cheat again?

The phrase cheaters always cheat has been used for years. If you ask someone who has been cheated on before whether the phrase holds water, chances are they will say yes. They always have the fear that it’s going to happen again. This makes them more watchful of the signs that it’s going to happen again. They are usually four times more likely to suspect a new partner of cheating.

Now, there are those people who have been burned twice. They caught their spouse cheating. And then after deliberation and considering the spouse’s apology and promise that it would never happen again, they gave them a second chance. Unfortunately, after a while, they were cheated on again. Twice beaten. If you direct the question is once a cheater always a cheater true to such people, then the answer will be a definite yes! Twice beaten, thrice shy!

The thing is, there will be no convincing such a person to forgive again or hope that the cheater will change. Unless there is something else keeping them in that relationship, then that will be the end of it. Such people usually have trust issues after that. That said though, there was a considerable number of those who cheated once and never did it again. This means there is no absolute truth to this cliché. So this might be true but not in all cases.

It was found that people were two to four times more likely to cheat if they suspected or knew of their partner’s previous infidelities from a past relationship. The other thing that came up was a repeat pattern. Those that had been cheated on before were at a higher risk of partnering with individuals who also cheat in their later relationships.

If we hold the cliché once a cheater always a cheater to be true, then we will be suggesting that cheaters have one all-encompassing profile. But the truth is, people cheat for different reasons. And this is what makes the phrase not absolutely true.

I know there is no excuse for cheating. But there are those who might say that they were pushed into cheating because of the emotional or sexual neglect they were getting from their spouses. Well, I say, why not end the relationship first then start something with someone else afterward?

The thing is, based on reasons why a person cheated, people have been trying to classify cheaters into categories. This is not really clear cut because there are different reasons and needs for cheating as well as different kinds of cheating.

They just want to be two timers – they don’t want open relationships.

Narcissism: There are those folks who cheat just because they are selfish and only have their interests at heart. To a narcissist, an affair is no big deal. They will do it just because an opportunity presented itself… The thing is, their craving for attention and admiration is what makes them cheat.

Sensation seekers: Some people just have a heightened need for risky and thrilling sexual encounters. Apparently this is linked to some form of deficiency in dopamine receptors. So basically, there is some deficiency in the part of the brain that deals with the feeling of pleasure. So for them, they tend to seek bigger thrills that revolve around cheating and sneaking around in order to satisfy this deficiency and experience the same level of pleasure the rest of us would.

Sex addicts: Do I really need to expound on this? Well, these are the kind of cheaters to really be a lookout for – chronic cheaters.

Do one-time cheaters exist?

Is once a cheater always a cheater true? Are there people who only cheat once and never do it again? There may be serial cheaters as mentioned above. But there are also some cheaters who do it only once.

First off where a person is at some point in their life could affect how they view the relationship they are in. For instance, most people tend to cheat more on their partners when they are in college. This we could attribute to peer pressure or trying not to feel like they are being tied down. How a person feels at a particular moment can motivate them to cheat.

Lack of self-confidence could be one of the reasons that might make someone who wouldn’t otherwise cheat do it. For instance, being in a relationship that makes you feel undesirable then suddenly meeting someone outside the relationship that boosts that confidence.

Then there are those one-time occurrences where one might cheat because they resent their partners. There are those who do it out of revenge – she cheated so I will cheat too.

The thing is, the above circumstances can be changed. And even if the once a cheater always a cheater statistics lean more towards just that, there is no absolute truth in it. People grow. Some people feel real remorse and make dramatic changes in their lives and never cheat again. People who cheat based on circumstances don’t necessarily do it again, especially when they meet someone they are more compatible with in their future relationships.

Should I trust again?

One thing most people struggle with when wondering whether to give a sincerely apologetic unfaithful person a chance is whether or not they should trust them again. No matter the reason for an affair, they always create such pain and unhappiness.

Now one might find themselves in a situation where leaving might become more detrimental than staying. There might be other factors in play that make ending the relationship not be an option. But one question always remains: do cheaters always cheat again? This question always looms large. Is this person worth staying with? Should you trust this person again?

The thing is, a lot of married couples will tell you that they have managed to work things out even after an affair. Once given a second chance, there are those who never cheated on their spouses again. So, instead of making rush decisions, here are some 10 questions to ask your unfaithful spouse that can help you gauge whether they are worth giving a second chance to or not.

Conclusion

Will cheaters always cheat? If we say yes, then it means that human beings are incapable of change or of feeling remorseful. Yes, there may be a study on serial cheating that endorses the cliché. This doesn’t mean that a person who cheats ones will do that for the rest of his life.

The thing is, some people have created and they have empathized with the pain their actions caused the person they once loved. Even if they did it because they had fallen out of love, they feel terrible about having gone through that route as opposed to coming out in the open and ending it before moving to someone else.

Is once a cheater always a cheater true? In my point of view, NO! Just like all other sins,  I believe people can change. I still have some faith in humanity. Whatever the reasons that might be behind someone’s infidelity or the choice to keep cheating, I think those who usually want to change do change. Even sex addicts do reform once they decide to take a step towards that direction.

So if you are in a committed relationship or marriage and then your partner slipped and is remorseful enough to convince you that they will never do it again, weigh things out and see if they are worth giving a second try.

Billie Eilish has finally opened up about the backlash she received for posting a picture of herself in a swimsuit.

The 18-year-old Grammy-winning singer has been trolled for her loose-fitting, oversized fashion choices – which she says she wears because of body insecurities – for quite a while now.

But what happened when she chose to wear and post a picture of herself in a bathing suit? You guessed it, backlash…

“I saw comments like, ‘How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexualized and wear this?!’” she told Dazed, about a picture of herself wearing in a swimsuit which instantly caused controversy.

“It was trending. There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a whore.’ Like, dude. I can’t win. I cannot win.”

The picture was from the singer’s trip to Hawaii back in January.

And although she revealed that posting the picture doesn’t necessarily mean she likes her body now, it means that she is ever so slightly less insecure about it…

“There was a point last year where I was naked and I didn’t recognize my body ’cause I hadn’t seen it in a while,” she said.

“I would see it sometimes and be like, ‘Whose body is that?’

“It’s not that I like my body now. I just think I’m a bit more OK with it.”

Let’s hope that the negative comments don’t affect Billie Eilish too much, and she continues to wear what she wants to wear with no judgment from the rest of the world…

“If I wore a dress to something, I would be hated for it,” she continued.

“People would be like, ‘You’ve changed, how dare you do what you’ve always rebelled against?’ I’m like, ‘I’m not rebelling against anything, really.’ I can’t stress it enough.

“I’m just wearing what I wanna wear. If there’s a day when I’m like, ‘You know what, I feel comfortable with my belly right now, and I wanna show my belly,’ I should be allowed to do that.”

Bradley Cooper almost grasped an award in A Star is Born. Unfortunately, it slipped right through with Rami Malek nabbing it at the last minute. Well, much as there are no Oscar wins, the height of his career was between 2013 and 2015 where he got 3 nominations.

Jameela Jamil has come out as queer on Twitter, admitting that she has hidden her sexuality for years.

The Good Place actress has received a great deal of backlash for being cast in Legendary, HBO’s new show about Vogue-ing. I.e. the dance craze which was introduced to the world by the LGBTQ community in the 80s.

The 33-year-old took to Twitter to defend her casting, telling fans she had been afraid to “officially” come out as queer due to her Asian heritage…

“This is why I never officially came out as queer. I added a rainbow to my name when I felt ready a few years ago, as it’s not easy within the south Asian community to be accepted, and I always answered honestly if ever straight up asked about it on Twitter,” her lengthy statement began.

“But I kept it low because I was scared of the pain of being accused of performative bandwagon jumping, over something that caused me a lot of confusion, fear and turmoil when I was a kid.

“I didn’t come from a family with *anyone* openly out. It’s also scary as an actor to openly admit your sexuality, especially when you’re already a brown female in your thirties.

“This is absolutely not how I wanted to come out.”

And as this isn’t how Jameela envisioned telling the world about her sexuality, we aren’t surprised to learn that she has decided to briefly leave Twitter, to avoid reading the comments to her coming out post.

“You can keep your thoughts,” she added.

She also added another statement about her involvement with the new HBO show, to try and silence the many trolls who slammed her for not having experience in ballroom culture…

“I know that being queer doesn’t qualify me as ballroom. But I have privilege and power and a large following to bring this show (as does the absolutely iconic Megan Thee Stallion) and it’s beautiful contestants and ballroom hosts,” she said.

“Sometimes it takes those with more power to help a show get off the ground so we can elevate marginalised stars that deserve the limelight and give them a chance.”

And despite what some reports are suggesting, Jameela Jamil will not be the host…

“I’m not the MC. I’m not the main host,” she clarified.

“I’m just a lead judge to my 11 years of hosting experience, being fully impartial, a newcomer to ballroom (like much of the audience will be) and therefore a window in for people who are just discovering it now, and being a long time ally of the lgbtq community.”

We can’t wait for the show!

Even the most frequent flyers have been known to have their stomachs churn when the plane goes up to 35,000 feet. This can be quite stressful. So if your significant other extends the proposal that he has booked a flight for some exotic getaway for the two of you and just the thought of flying makes you anxious and terrified, believe me, you are not alone. Apparently, about a quarter of Americans get nervous about flying.

How to keep calm on your next flight and trips with your partner

Find out what to expect

Learning the basics about planes before a romantic travel has really assisted fearful flyers for years. Its been proven to go a long way in warding off the worry. For instance, for those that worry about a plane failing mid-air, just a simple thing as understanding how it can continue flying even in the case of an engine failure can somehow reduce the anxiety caused by the thought of a plane malfunctioning.

Simple explanations about things like how planes manage to stay in the air, causes of turbulence can really put a person at ease. The thing is, turbulence can be demystified. Alarming as it might seem, there are simple explanations for it. In reality, its caused by the same routine shifts in the wind that birds encounter daily. Planes are built for most turbulence they encounter and the plane can take it.

Understand what triggers the anxiety

All fears have causes and triggers. These can range from our thoughts to images, sensations and memories of things that we might have experienced in life to which we have become sensitized. If for instance you are used to certain bodily feelings, it can instill the fear for turbulence landing or takeoff. If its a fear of heights or claustrophobia, you can always find a way to manage that.

Some of these triggers can be managed by simply managing one’s media intake, especially when planning a holiday to romantic travel destinations. This might seem like common sense but it needs to be mentioned. Only the few problem fights are featured. I will mention this again: flying is way safer than driving.

Don’t let that skew your impressions of flying.

Get an aisle seat

When planning for romantic trips in US, especially during the holiday season, it is advisable that you do it early enough. Now, if you are scared of flying, an aisle seat can be an ideal choice for fearing flyers. So planning ahead can actually give you an upper hand as you get the chance to request the seat you want  – most airlines allow it.

Now if you are claustrophobic, an aisle seat will make you feel less crowded by other people. Plus you can easily get up and move around easily whenever the feeling crops up. As for those with a fear of heights, an aisle seat is ideal as you can avoid looking out of the window.

Depending on what is causing the anxiety, any seat can work. You just need to figure out which one puts you at ease. For instance, middle seats give one two armrests to grip.

Attend a fear of flying course

A simple workshop that focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy can really help you when taking trips with your partner. Most people who have taken such simple courses have been able to fly without letting the fear take over them. At these courses, you will meet pilots who are willing to take you through how they fly the planes, you will also find psychologists who are very reassuring.

Deep breaths

Relaxation techniques are popularly known by Psychologists as the most effective ways to calm anxiety. The thing with anxiety is that it makes your breathing shallow. So all you need is to take a deep breath. Deep and conscious breathing is an immediate stress reliever. Breathe in through the nose, hold for some counts and exhale through the mouth.

Other techniques include guided imagery where you can visualize a safe and peaceful space, muscle relaxation techniques where you tense different muscles then release the different muscles gradually as you breathe.

Don’t put yourself in a position where you have to rush

Having to rush also increases anxiety. So give yourself enough time before flying. Don’t put yourself in a position where you are rushing to the gate thinking that you might miss your flight. Plan your hours well and leave your house on time.

Do the waiting at the lounge

If you can afford the private airport lounges while on your romantic travel, then that’s the best option because they are quiet and luxurious. That way you avoid the hustle of the public lounges at the airport. Much as they are on a membership basis, you can still get a day pass for like $5o. What’s 50 dollars if it is going to keep you calm as you wait for the flight?

Visit the cockpit

Now, this is where getting early has its perks. So if there is time, ask the flight attendant to meet the pilot who will fly your plane. If that isn’t possible, the have a chat with one of the flight attendants. This helps most people on their romantic trips in US because when you talk to people who hold your safety in their hands, they can reassure you… even make you believe in their competence. Plus, most pilots and flight attendants are very friendly. Talking to them can create some trust in them.

Watch  Something Funny

Carry a good magazine or a good book whenever you are flying to romantic travel destinations. Alternatively, ask for a comedy on your in-flight entertainment system or load some on your laptop before the flight. Whatever you go for, make sure it lasts the duration of the flight.

Soothing music is also helpful and can take you to that peaceful place. So stock up a great playlist on your phone or tablet. Also, some stress-relieving meditation or instructional breathing sessions will do. There are so many downloadable apps that have that even when the phone is on airplane mode.

Or pop a pill

If relaxation, music and breathing exercises don’t work for you then ask your doctor to prescribe some anti-anxiety medication or sleeping pills for the flight. These are great sedatives to help you not get worked up about the movement or noises from the plane.

A drink might work too…

When flying to your romantic journeys, a glass of wine or two can be a great alternative to the anti-anxiety medication. That said, you should not mix both medication and alcohol. When done in moderation, alcohol can calm nerves. Now, you need to remember that alcohol can also cause dehydration. So, down plenty of water while at it

The thing is the decision of whether to fly or not to solely lies with you. So you have to make that decision for you. But if you follow the above tips of overcoming the fear of flying, then you and your beau have a whole world for you to explore. My advice: Don’t let the fear of flying change your way of life.

One Tree Hill star Jana Kramer has weighed in on the Justin Timberlake hand-holding scandal.

For anyone living under a rock, allow us to recap…

Over the past few days, Justin Timberlake has been on the receiving end of a lot of abuse for holding hands with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright – who also plays his love interest – on a night out.

In other words, someone who isn’t his wife and mother of his child, Jessica Biel.

Justin and Alisha were spotted holding hands at the Absinthe House in New Orleans, while another photo showed that she had her hand on JT’s thigh.

Jana Kramer used her topical podcast, Whine Down, to discuss the scandal – and also to send mild threats to her own husband if he were to do the same thing…

“It’s just wrong. It’s just because, again, you’re putting yourself in a bad situation of basically, like, hey, you’re inviting the next step if there’s a next step,” she told the husband and co-host Mike Caussin on the latest episode of Whine Down.

“I would slaughter you if your hands were on someone else.”

However, Mike Caussin took a more forgiving approach, referencing Justin Timberlake’s evident intoxication.

“Just seeing how drunk he was, who knows what was being said. Who knows the story,” he added.

“All I’m saying is that there’s a little bit of room somewhere in there for that.”

And that’s exactly the defence that Justin Timberlake and Alisha Wainwright – or more accurately, their camps, as neither of them have addressed the issue directly – have taken.

A source confirmed to E! News that Justin Timberlake had “too much to drink and got carried away,” but his “marriage will survive. He feels guilty and will make it up to her.

“They are downplaying everything and trying to laugh it off as nothing,” the source added.

“But it was definitely inappropriate and something that would make any wife uncomfortable.”

Another source went one step further to defend Justin and his co-star and insisted that the Palmer cast are all very close friends. And nothing more…

“Nothing remotely romantic is going on with Justin and Alisha,” the insider told US Weekly.

“The whole cast is shooting out there and like to hang out together. They were very much in public and nothing inappropriate was happening.”

Biracial marriages have become more prevalent in the United States. But the big question is:  has the public become more accepting of it? Well, this growing trend of people marrying men and women of different races is a good thing for society. And the number of those opposed to their friends or family marrying interracially has dramatically reduced. Does this mean we are more accepting? Read on…

Interracial marriage definition

What is interracial marriage? Interracial marriage is the marriage between two people of different races. In earlier days, the interracial marriage definition was assumed to mean a marriage between a black person and a white person. The black and white marriage combination was the most common one. But these days and with the rise in immigrants coming to the US more and more interracial combinations are rising. And with this, people from all races are getting used to the idea of biracial marriages.

The rise in interracial marriages

Since the Supreme Court ruling in the Loving v. Virginia case where marriage across racial lines was legalized, there has been a rapid increase in black and white marriage throughout the country. And this increase has played a major role in the increase of interracial dating as well as acceptance. And as Asians and Hispanics come to the interracial fold, this further boosts the U.S. intermarriage overall.

As we become more diverse as a population, our attitudes are shifting too. And this further contributes to the rise of interracial relationships.

Is interracial marriage wrong?

Certainly not. There is nothing wrong with interracial relationships. There might be a few people who still don’t want to get with the program. These are the kind of people we see harassing other people online. Most celebrities in biracial marriages have experienced constant harassment from internet trolls. Some people harass their neighbors for it. There was a judge who refused to marry interracial couples. The thing is, here and there, we read about hate crimes happening.

But those are just but a few compared to those who accept interracial relationships. Then, of course, there is the number that feels that interracial marriages make no difference to them. The thing is people’s attitudes towards interracial marriage vary widely. And age seems to be a factor. The percentage of people above 65 years who still think interracial marriage is bad for society is highest compared to those between 18 to 29.

The opinions of people also differ based on the level of education attained also. Those with a bachelor’s degree and more are less likely to think that mixed relationships are wrong. About 16% of those adults who have attained a high school diploma or less think this trend isn’t good for society.

When it comes to race, Blacks are more likely to say interracial marriage is wrong. Those adults living in urban areas also feel that mixed marriages are great for society whereas more people living in rural areas share the opposite view.

That said though, more Americans are open to the idea of a close family member marrying interracially. And some interracial couples have managed to change the opinions of their relatives on interracial relationships. So as years go by, America continues to be more of a melting pot! As our opinions about the impact of interracial marriage on society evolve, so have our attitudes about what is acceptable within our families change. Fewer Americans are saying that they would be opposed to a family member marrying interracially.

Despite growing acceptance couples still experience interracial marriage problems. In some societies, it is still difficult to exist and fit in. Much as there is less racism, it is still there. There are many interracial dating challenges, for instance, feeling like outsiders, having to merge and accept different traditions, culture, and habits, dealing with family disapproval…  All these can more than threaten the couple’s marriage and happiness.

The world reminds interracial couples about race

Much as interracial couples want to forget about race from time to time, the world reminds them. There are cases where you might be asked for your identification in a store and your interracial husband isn’t. There are cases where a waiter or waitress might think you are not together and ask a couple if they want separate checks.

The thing is: it all depends on where you live. In more diverse communities, couples in biracial marriages blend easily. But in some neighborhoods, there is some discrimination. But one of the major interracial marriage problems isn’t really about how the couple is treated, but mostly its the concern about how society will treat their children. Will they be mistreated or disowned by their peers? Will they be picked up on constantly?

Some of her biracial friends had much worse experiences, she said, having their hair cut off or being beaten up. Some had grandparents or other family members who disowned them.

The thing is, no matter how supportive your friends and family are, no matter how receptive the larger society is to interracial coupling, you will sometimes encounter an individual who still notices or reminds you of the racial aspect of your relationship or even cringes at the thought or sight of an interracial couple. So once in a while, you may have to put up with a stranger’s questions about your relationship. We can’t run away from the fact that there are still those individuals who don’t like the idea of biracial coupling.

Are the numbers real?

There have been so many polls about what Americans truly feel about interracial couples. And as much as the polls show positive results, subconscious a considerable number of us still struggling with the acceptance of interracial couples. There was even a test that was done to test what the brain really says about acceptance to interracial dating where they used an electroencephalogram (EEG) to measure electrical brain activity. They study group was shown 100 pictures of black-white couples and 100 of same-race couples and observed activity in the part the brain called insula – the part activated when someone felt disgusted. For most participants who had initially reported their acceptance to interracial coupes, the insula lit up when they viewed pictures of interracial couples as opposed to the same race pictures.

The thing is, there are instances where you find that even those who claim to be supportive of biracial marriages find it hard to welcome a member of another race when they want to marry their actual family. Yes, they are OK with a co-worker, neighbor or friend from a different race, but not family. Some are OK with other people’s interracial relationships, but they can’t even begin to imagine themselves dating outside their race.

Yes, 83% of Americans self-report to being accepting of interracial relationships. But looking at the actual numbers interracial unions in the US there is a huge discrepancy. There is a high approval rate for biracial marriages and relatively low numbers of actual interracial marriages. Well, this disparity in numbers goes to show the talking the laws off the books hasn’t changed some of our deeply ingrained societal attitudes about race in our society.

So clearly it shows that having a positive attitude towards interracial dating and actually having interracial husband or wife are not related whatsoever. Could it be that some of us who welcome the idea of interracial marriages are scared of being regarded as sell-outs or being disowned when they actually intermarry? Could it be that resistance to interracial marriage tends to be hidden somewhere deep within us? When responding to these surveys, do we say we accept interracial relationships just so we can appear progressive in our views?

The thing is, race is a touchy subject. Even those of us who are bigots tend to pretend not to be or try hard to suppress the bigotry. No one wants to look like they are the ones pulling Americans down. Then again, if you think about it, if we are trying that hard to appear progressive, maybe it’s a good thing that we are at least trying and with more effort eventually race will cease to matter.

Unlike Miley Cyrus, who has moved on with two high-profile rebounds already, Liam Hemsworth seems to be in no rush to get into anything serious following the end of his marriage.

However, the actor has been spotted hanging out with gorgeous Australian actress Maddison Brown these past few weeks, and according to sources, they are actually casually dating!

Huge emphasis on the ‘casual’…

“It’s very new. Liam is taking it slow but he’s definitely interested in her,” an insider told People.

“He’s so into Maddison and really likes her,” another source revealed to US Magazine.

“Liam feels like Maddison gets him and understands him, partly because she is also Australian. They also both share similar senses of humor.

“Spending time with Maddison has been natural, fun and easy for Liam.”

And it certainly looks like he and Maddison are having fun together!

Liam and the Dynasty actress were recently spotted holding hands, and making out on a New York City sidewalk (as you do!) and showed no signs of worrying about what other people thought. Side note, he allegedly buried his head in her chest, and also grabbed her butt!

We don’t know if Liam Hemsworth and Maddison Brown will be as social media official as Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson seem to be, but we’re glad to see that he is slowly moving on. Even if it isn’t with us…
