Rihanna has finally broken her silence following the controversial Snapchat ad that made a joke of her domestic violence past.

The insensitive ad asked users to vote on whether they would rather “slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown”, referencing the infamous incident in 2009 which left Rihanna with severe facial bruising.

Following the backlash, Snapchat removed the ad and issued an apology…

“The ad was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines,” Snapchat said in a statement.

“We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.”

Interestingly, Rihanna stayed quiet during the whole drama – until now! And we have to say that her savage response was definitely worth the wait, as she brought Snapchat down in the most spectacular way…

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess,” Rihanna began. (We love this already!)

“I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to domestic violence victims and made a joke of it!!!

“This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet….you let us down!

“Shame on you. Throw the whole app-ology away.”

You go, girl!

We admire her for thinking about all the other domestic violence victims out there who perhaps might not have as thick a skin as she does. We just wish Snapchat would have thought more before approving the ad in the first place.

Live and learn, eh?!
